A co-worker just received a letter telling her that anyone not enrolled in Excelsior College before July 25, 2006 will not be recognized by the Maryland board of nursing. Does anyone know anything about this? I think the letter she got came from the College Network. Is this really true?

I received the same letter. It is also on the Maryland Board of Nursing web page. It really put a wrench in my plans to get my ADN as I just started with the College Network in April and was getting ready to take my first Excelsior exam. I understand that MBN is not excepting Excelsior's clinical credit of the program. I'm looking into what my options are.

nbmbeads,
You still have about 16 months to finish (I think the deadline is 12/31/07), which is very doable for the ASN if you're serious about it.
No you had to be registered with Excelsior before July 25th 2006. I had not, so I would not be allow to take the Maryland state boards. If it is meant to be it will all work out.
I see the problem now. Thanks for clarifying. Best of luck in whichever path you decide to take.

This really messes up my plans for earning an ADN. I graduate LPN school in January 2007, but planned to go through the College Network soon after passing boards. Now I don't know what to do, I don't think I can stand to sit in another classroom for 1-2 years, and my kids miss me being around to do stuff with them. Anybody know of any other school that will allow me to learn at home? It seems Excelsior was the only option ( kinda like a monopoly for nursing) Please help!!

I have been researching every online college available to find a properly accredited school where I can either get a degree as an rn or a respiratory therapist. Only problem is I want to make sure I can get a job with this degree any advice?
Please help!

I could be wrong but in MD as far as I know you need to have one of the two before moving forward with an online program. There are lots of ADN to BSN online programs out there.

I'm not fully clear after reading the link. Could a Excelsior graduate simply get a RN license in another state 1st then apply for Maryland?
