Is AANAC certification worth it?
Hi, Just joined aanac. Thanks

$20k+ for LVN school....is it worth it?
To me the money is worth it if it helps me to accomplish my goals as quickly as possible. To me the cost is not as important as is the terms that the money is repaid. Thanks to my aid I didn't come with much out of pocket and then I don't have to repay till I'm out of school for good which is another 3 years away. By that time I will have the skillset and earning potential to easily pay off this amount. Let me ask you. Would you rather get to making some money and having a job with possible loan repayment and tution reimbursement for your future plans or be like everyone in my graduating class. They all ended up here after wasting time and realizing that the pre-req's took another yr and then the waiting list was long and not knowing when they were going to get in so planning was hard. I applaude you going to school and this is just how I see the other side of the forest. PS: If I had the pre-req's and could do it all over again and could get in then I would do the weekend and online nursing program in gainsville at the community college. www.nctc.edu

Does LPN/LVN Med-Surg Experience count?
Anybody got a e-mail address to their travel nurse agency rep.?

Does LPN/LVN Med-Surg Experience count?
Thank you for your response. To clarify, by time I eventually graduate as a RN I would have 1 yr of med-surg. experience. I'm just not sure if it mattered that it would be obtained while I was a LVN. It shouldn't matter unless the RN's are doing something different on the floor that the LVN's aren't. Just trying to get the answer with out calling around but I really should call the companies that do the hiring.

Does LPN/LVN Med-Surg Experience count?
Hi, My goal is to become a travel nurse once I complete RN school. When the ads ask for 1+ yr's med-surg experience does it matter that it was received while a LPN/LVN? I would like to complete RN school and use the prior experience to move right into travel nursing as a RN. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Which school is better in Dallas, Texas for LVN? Concorde,Platt, or Dallas Nursing In
Does anyone really like their school while attending it? I know I don't but when I graduate as a ready to go lvn then I will probably recommend them. If these schools told us the truth about some things then we would've never enrolled.

Well, this is my 4th week at clinicals. I'm neutral on the nursing home experience. We are just getting used to the patients and not doing anything past cna level. It boring but they say they have a method to the madness. Now the classwork is a different subject. Just passed the Gero. course but now our 1st med surg & pharm. test is this week and it will be interesting. Fluids and electrolytes are hard to grasp in a week to me but we'll see. I hope your clinical experience is as expected. What courses are you currently in? We pick up nutrition next week. I'm so happy for the upcoming holidays to get a small break. Also, we took part of the hesi last week to see how we are retaining info. did really good compared to my class but i see lots of room for improvement. Keep going stong for we are living a dream come true.

Thanks for the support. What I know so far is that we do our next 8 wks at a 2 different nursing homes. 1 of them also has a rehab center connected. I will review my skills book some because trach care, etc was easy on the mannequin but I want to feel confident when working live. Geriatric is where I want to specialize. Now the mental health portion scares me. What have the mental health patients been like? Are you ever left alone with them? I will keep you posted for sure. Enjoy your weekend.

Congrats on making it through. What a week but now I can join your ranks as a sophomore student. My instructor says that was the hardest part but we'll see. I start clinical on Monday from 2-PM. I'm excited. Finally some hands on. Time for some med-surge.,nutrition,etc. Lets keep making it happen.

Wow, a whole week off. Y'all get treated better. LOL. Labor day was our 1st day off & we still had to make it up on Friday. Everyone is so waiting on Christmas week to get a real break. Yeah the finals are scary in thought but we are prepared from the many daily quiz's & tests. Not sure why our finals aren't spread out by a few days or something. I have them back to back in late Sept. Have any of your teachers quit? Good thing I deal with change easily. It' crazy but I was so excited on Thursday just because we got measured for our scrubs. I'm so ready for clinical. Class only 2 days then clinical the other 2. Plus I get to see nursing hands on. I'm told that the 1st semester was the boot camp & that these upcoming class's are just maintaining because now we are in shape with a sharp brain if that makes any sense. We start clinical in a nursing home but I forget the names expect for Treemont but I'll let you know later. The only hospital we use is RHD. Everything else are Ltac's,clinic's,nursing home's,Dr. office, etc. Enjoy the day.

Texas LVNS doing Excelsior College
I think Excelsior is a great option & I wish it was for me. I've decided when it's time to becaome a RN to not go that route only because I wish to work in CA,etc down the road. Thank you for the feedback.

I hope all is well with you. Everything is going good with me. How do you find our thread? I'm subscribed so when you "posted" it notified me via e-mail so I could respond. I guess I could keep the link in my e-mail. School is getting crazy with the amount of reading & test but I have seen early that I can make. We have a quiz or test at lest every other day. The part that is the challenge is that we are working 4 different class's & skill lab at the same time so you must organize your reading. Like right now I really want to work on some math but I know I have a fundementals test tuesday. I have a A average in every class except fundementals but I will bring it up. I'm just really, really glad to be in this program. Let me tell you that it's only been 3 weeks but the class drama is starting. To many grown women LOL. I'm just watching from a distance thinking this is to important to be childish. Hey, has your class lost any students yet? A lady quit Thursday. She said it was to stressful. From day one though she didn't seem serious enough(tardy, skipping test so she could ask us about the questions the next day, etc) but I still feel bad for her. With everything moving so quickly with working 37 hrs weekly & school I may only post weekly but stay postive & talk to you soon.:)

Just another matter of opinion.
