  1. I am an advocate for TPAPN. You will have to report your criminal record to the board, but that will not keep you from becoming a nurse. The BON may require you to participate in the TPAPN program, which is a 2 year commitment of meetings and daily phone calls to see if you have to drug test that particular day. I personally think it's unfortunate that a nurse has to do this if their DWI was years ago. I had gone to treatment and had been clean for months when I had to do TPAPN. TPAPN required me do another outpatient treatment as well. They do not give you a chance to tell your story or explain anything. You do it or you are turned over to the board for action. If you would like to send me an e-mail I will be more than happy to help you in any way I can. Good Luck!

Don't worry! All of the hospitals in the town I live in give sign on bonuses. It doesn't have a thing to do with a big turn over or bad places to work...It's the nursing shortage. It sounds like you are worrying about nothing. My daughter is doing an ultrasound program and some hospitals are offering $15,000 bonuses.....it's the shortage, so you will be okay. Welcome!
  3. Hi, I am wondering if there are any Texas nurses doing the EC program or any nurses that have graduated from the program? I have been doing some research and am very confused. I have 6 credits I need to do before starting the actual nursing classes. Would you suggest doing those through EC or another school. I have been an office nurse for 20 years and before that 10 years of hospital. I am sure I want to pursue this goal, but am very nervous. Any suggestions are appreciated. Barbara in Lubbock
  4. Hi, I am considering the EC program and would appreciate any input you have to offer. I have been an LVN for 30 years and not much clinical experience, mostly office work. Also, I have about 9 hours of pre-req's I need and am wondering of I should do those through EC or another program. I have been reading as much as I can on this site and have got some valuable information, but I am still undecided as to what to do or what I am capable of doing. Thanks for your help! Barbara
