I'm an LPN in LA considering starting w/ Excelsior for my RN degree. Can anyone out there tell me about the clinicals to pass? I know u usually have to go to another state to do them, but are they extremely difficult??:typing

I am an Excelsior College graduate as of March 2008. The CPNE is what you are referring to and it is a 3 day TEST. They are there to see what you know, not to TEACH you anything. The first time pass rate is 64%, second time is 64% and the third time is 59%. After 3 attempts, you are dismissed from the program. I know that this seems impossible, but LOTS of us have done it. It is possible and for a lot of us, it is the quickest way to the pay for the job we are already mostly doing...that of RN. If I can help in any way, please PM me.
Good luck in your decision!
Thanks for the info....What exactly if you recall did the CPNE's include doing?
Maybe a ditto response...Thanks for info..What exactly if you recall did u have to do for your CPNE's?

Make sure you check with you State board before proceeding to make sure they will accept Excelsior. If the "LA" of your location means LA, California, California does not recognize Excelsior.

Thanks, I'll do that. I live in Louisiana....but, I'm scared that I'll start this program and before I can finish w/ it, our state will not accept it anymore. I'm currently taking pre-reqs @ a Comm. College right now, so I'm tossing the idea around.

If the "LA" you referring to is Louisiana, YES, they do accept EC students to sit for NCLEX. I live in Louisiana and spoke to the BON when all of the news about GA came out to verify that I would still be eligible!

Beachcomber, I posted extensively of the workshop - it's in a sticky - and there's a thread tntitled "My CONE Experience" on this page. And there are a LOT of other threads by CPNE-takers and how they passed.
Thanks for the info.
Kind of new to this site...how do I find this "sticky" to read the info. :yldhdbng:
