NRSE 4600 is an on-line class. There is a new accreditation requirement that we have to have one course with a clinical component in our RN to BSN.

NRSE 4600 will have one project that will include working with a preceptor of your choice. It will not be for the whole five-weeks.

We are being required to do this in order to maintain our accreditation with CCNE.

NRSE 4600 NURSING EXCELLENCE; your LAST nursing class, you will need to email [email protected] with your NAME, PID, CLASS NAME and CLASS NUMBER, SESSION DATE, and ask to be enrolled.

You will receive an email when this process has been completed.

I think this is total BS to change the requirements for people who are already in the program and almost completed. Many people picked this school based on no clinical component. I can see implementing it going forward for anyone who enrolls from here on out, but for those already in, so not fair.

I completely agree and I am not happy about this. I am mad at myself because I was enrolled in 4600 for Fall session 3 and dropped out due to family issues. Now I wish I had stuck it out. This is ridiculous. So many have graduated before us without this clinical component. So are they less prepared than we are?

If it's the CCNE requiring it, I can understand that. Regulations change. But to just spring it on people, like they did to us with the tuition hike with 2-3 weeks notice, it's just messed up. I can not wait to be done with this school.

Oh, believe me, I am so over it! I envy those who were able to complete when it was the quarter system with one week break between classes. It is such a different program than when I started last January. Wish I had stuck with my original schedule now.

Oh good grief, does this mean I have to go get a TB test, physical, vaccination titres, etc before my clinical? That's what I noticed when I was researching clinicals for nurse practitioners the other day; some if not most require all that to be done. And that'll have to come out of my own pocket. I am very upset about this too. Un freakin' believeable.

Now i am totally getting worried. I am currently in 4600 and not exactly sure if this will be affecting my graduation date. I suppose i will call the school for exact details regarding my situation.

Alright...we are getting most of this information from the Facebook page. I don't think anything has been OFFICIALLY put out there from the school.

What I want to know is:

How many people are signed up for Nursing 4600 in Spring of 2013. And of those who are enrolled and registered do they have a lab component attached to their enrollment. So, far I have only seen one person state that they have the lab as part of Nursing 4600 in the Spring.

At least you are part way through, I cannot even proceed and has totally screwed everything up. I was signed up for classes and got books for interecession at western oklahoma, now as the director of distance education said being I live in New York I cannot proceed with ANY nursing classes and they don't know 'when' that will ever happen BUT he will keep me informed. I think this is so totally unfair and they just don't give a damn. Upsetting, you bet. My whole BSN education is now at a standstill.

This is the email I received today from OU. I am not happy about this, like everyone else. They need to give us all of the details on this asap! For instance, preceptor of my choice???? Sounds like I am going to have to arrange this myself. SIGH!!!

If this is an accreditation issue...OU has no choice. It is bad timing for you. I was the first graduating class in my ADN program. We were the guinea pigs for that school. We were constantly told one thing and then it changed just as quickly. Our school still does not have accreditation and when they do we will NOT be grandfathered in, but, we were told for two years that we would be,...and therefore I am getting my BSN for that reason only. You have got to learn to let this go...and adjust. That is what we were told in nursing school...that is what nurses need to be able to practice in real life. That things change and you have to move on.

I have NOT received an email. I wonder why some people have and others have not.
