Excellence with Clinical now

NRSE 4600 is an on-line class. There is a new accreditation requirement that we have to have one course with a clinical component in our RN to BSN.

NRSE 4600 will have one project that will include working with a preceptor of your choice. It will not be for the whole five-weeks.

We are being required to do this in order to maintain our accreditation with CCNE.

NRSE 4600 NURSING EXCELLENCE; your LAST nursing class, you will need to email [email protected] with your NAME, PID, CLASS NAME and CLASS NUMBER, SESSION DATE, and ask to be enrolled.

You will receive an email when this process has been completed.

I think this is total BS to change the requirements for people who are already in the program and almost completed. Many people picked this school based on no clinical component. I can see implementing it going forward for anyone who enrolls from here on out, but for those already in, so not fair.

Yes EmJean you were a bit 'harsh' I have a right to my opinion as does everyone else, i have spent money on books and classes and been screwed up because of incompetence. i work hard for my money! Of course I will be 'angry' and 'yes' life has it's ups and downs but I am not a spring chicken and this pushes me back to try to get into programs i passed on because of OU. I agree to disagree with you. And 'yes' one person does have a right to be more harsh then others as this affected my future. I cannot even tell you the frustration I have had with OU just to get transcripts evaluated etc then to ask my advisor what nursing classes to take 'when' and gotten told people pretty much take what they want when they want. That cost me in this program.

Yes life is about 'change'

but every person DOES have a right to their own feelings and i am sure if you were in my shoes would of been mad as hell also. I have been a nurse for 30 years and been there done that. So please don't judge me or make rude remarks about my feelings. My opinion. I respect how you feel, please d the same for me. Peace out..................

I had no qualms with you expressing your anger. Just you posted it about 5 times on Facebook and in this thread. I think the first few times people were sympathetic. Now you are just beating a dead horse. That was my only message to you.

BTW: I am not a spring chicken either!

Sorry you feel that way EmJEAN,but I have read numerous posts where you have done a lot of ********,how bad OU is etc and about classes but have not commented, again your feelings and that is what boards are about. I respect how you feel, respect my feelings, that is all I ask,my message to you. People agree to disagree and 'yes' I am highly upset with OU, I have every right to be and can post as I feel like you do. I don't judge you or put you down. If you don't want to read or hear what I say, then don't. I again wonder if you were in my shoes 'what' we would of heard from you. Again your feelings and that is why we have our wonderful "freedom of speech'. End of subject for me. Have a good one!

Well said Simply Complicated!

May I also remind everyone that AN is a public board that is viewed by ANYONE and EVERYONE! including the schools. Some of you all have already recognized each other off AN then your identity can be revealed by anyone.

Also is someone is bothering you.....don't engage them, report them...or place them on ignore. We can agree to disagree and remain polite. :)

I have NOT received an email. I wonder why some people have and others have not.

Because OU is being inconsistent, yet again. Imagine that?!

Wow, I can say that since the OU started making all of the changes it has been an uphill battle. Computer malfunctions etc. Ill be taking it next spring so I can just be done with OU at this point. As I said in other post Ill be finishing the rest of my courses at local universities

It's a shame we don't have a place where we can vent in private...the students in this program need it!

You can vent............ it was just a gentle reminder that this is a public board and can be viewed by the public. As per the TOS

Information About Others:

No potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. While it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. It is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. Your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. While this site is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. Gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. Please do not give out personal identifying information about yourself or others. Do not name names where anyone could identify any person in any facility including your nursing programs or place of employment.

Venting versus ranting...I think one can be useful...one becomes problematic over time.

Hi everyone,

I was admitted for the Spring 2013. I'm from Cali and have looked at a bunch of online RN to BSN programs. I still think OU is top of my list for a variety of reasons. When you get more information about what this clinical with 4600 requirement is, can you please share with those of us who will be facing it?

Thanks!
