I was called into the head nurses' office yesterday about an annonymous complaint made against me with JCAHO. I spoke with the nurse manager and she said that everything she had looked up was clear and they were sending back a clear record to state board and JCAHO. He has been threatening me for a long time and this is a huge deal. he is trying to make me lose my nursing license. Well tonight he sent me a text asking if I had heard from the boards which is proof that it was him. I have had no contact with him whatsoever. My next question is there anything I can do legally to him for doing this to me? I am afraid of him but this is not a joke. I mean to go after someone's license is just plain cruel. Any advice?

My advice is to ask a lawyer what you are asking us.
Good luck. That's really vicious,

I'm sure you can take some legal actions but if you have concrete proof. My mind just went blank but there's a word for his actions (if it's really him) and what he's doing to your career reputation. The one where he's falsely accusing you and making you have a bad reputation that will affect your clients/employer. Anyways if you get concrete proof, I say talk with a lawyer or your nursing manager about this. He is being very unprofessional and very immature to attack you this way.
Btw, I hope he's not also a nurse :angryfire

Yeah, we can't give legal advice here. You need to talk to a lawyer.

I know someone who's ex reported her to the board for a false accusation. She already had a lawyer so I think that's how she handled it. Isn't it so frightening how fragile our license is though. My advice is to keep an open line of communication with your boss and HR about this problem and get a lawyer. So sorry.

Defamation?

Complete defamation of character. Since the complaint was anonymous, I don't think a lawyer could take court action, however, having a lawyer send him a letter about you willing to take legal action if he attempts any defamation of character might help.

Exactly! :imbar Don't know why but the word just escaped me. Anyways legal actions for defamation of the nursing license should be possible.
I plan on showing my nurse manager the text message he sent me this morning when she gets to work. I am in just shock that this happend to me and I'm so angry. Thank you for support.

Call a lawyer. Be sure to keep that message he sent. Really horrible that he is trying to destroy you. Good thing is you know it and have a text from him questioning you in regards to it. DON'T reply or respond. Let a lawyer take over from here.
what kind of lawyer?

You'd have to prove that
a) He did it and
b) Your reputation suffered.
I don't know that there would be defamation lawyers, you would just go to a general lawyer.
What a nasty man.
