I have been off placement, work and uni since saturday... I sound like I am trying to cough my lungs up,(
I didn't have a shift booked,so I didn't ring in sick, but I sound terrible... my mum doesn't recognise my voice at the moment... and this woman wanted me to go into work. Which I don't think would have been responsible or physically possible, I don't think I could drive to work and I would do more harm than good if I got there!
Then I was told they might not be any shifts for me next week! Which i am going to leave to the last minute to book, to see if I am well, but I need to work...
Sorry for ranting, I just needed to vent, and for once I really can't ring anyone up and vent down the phone!!
Thanks for reading this waste of bandwidth.

Hope you feel better!
There will probably be plenty of work next week. A little threat or intimidation there to try to get you to work anyway?
I try to use my caller ID and answering machine to screen my calls and try not to speak with them in person unless I want to. Saves me a lot of aggravation.
Darn turkeys!

Worry not, Whisper. It sounds like standard practice ( well, perhaps not pressuring you to work when you are obviously sick! ) but the implication that you won't be called to work next week is a gesture towards waiting until you are completely fit before asking you to work again. If you call them up, they'll bite your hand off they're so keen!/desperate for staff!

Brain surgeons these folks are NOT, but a little common sense doesn't seem too much to ask!
I hope you feel better soon!!

Whisper - lots of hot lemon juice with vodka - that way at least if it does not cure the cold you won't be worrying about it anymore. ((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))
I like that idea! not sure if I should drink with my tablets though...
Further research is required;)
Thanks Guys

Just looking back on this page............
Whether you work a bank shift or not, for whatever reason, it is YOUR business. If you are ill, it is nothing to do with the snotty horrible woman. I never work extra's, I have enough of the place as it is.
I know it's weeks ago since you posted this, but hope u r better!
all better thanks!
and back at work two nights last week and today (friday) night booked... and oh yes it is a full moon!!!
