And what I mean is...do you feel like you cant do anything right. The other night was my "stupid" night, lol. I couldnt stick my finger in my ear if I tried. :lol2: Anyone else go thru this at times?

OMG! I have totally lost 40 IQ points during 0700 report. I have also done the two different shoes thing.

Last Saturday, I couldn't get an IV in a 14 gauge vein! Had to ask for help, so embarassing.

The only (very rare) time I ever get the "jevity bath ™" is when the family is watching.

Got a good laugh out of this.

I was trying to get a wire from under a pt's head (that had a huge GSW) and flicked blood all over the RT that was bagging. I still got a dirty look after a sheepish grin, an "oopss", and a sincere apology.....lol.

Then, about an hour after that, I bumped the leg of a pt. with an ankle injury.... felt really bad about that.

I hate it when I am having a Klutsy night!!

Oh.... one more thing..........

We have a room that is specifically for the application of splints. There is a huge sink with a stupid faucet head that is loose.

I swear I think someone goes along and points that thing up.

ANYway, I wasn't paying attention and turned the water on full force and got sprayed right in the face. I was SOAKED.

Oh, the patient and family members laughed and laughed........ one even tossed a quarter in the plastic basin on the counter next to me.

I better not tell management my pt/family had such a great time or they will be requiring a slapstick routine with each ER visit.

I am soooooo glad I am not the only one! Last night I had to crush meds and before I could put the applesauce in the little cup, I knocked it over and spilled the crushed meds all over the medcart, had to pull more meds and crush them again. THEN, I was trying to change the tubing on a PCA pump, and you all know how complicated those are, I disconnected one end, but forgot to unhook the other end and when I turned to walk out of room to get a flush, I guess I was trying to pull the IV pole with me because I still had the tubing in my hand. The patients family member said "whoa!". lol. Of course we all laughed. I call it "part-timers" instead of alzheimers, lol. Ya know, my blood sugar has been dropping pretty low, that may be part of the cause sometimes. It drops way low, I eat, but it takes a LONG time to feel normal again. Thanks guys for sharing your stories with me, it makes me feel better knowing Im not by myself.

I am LEFT/RIGHT challenged. Not sure when it started, dont' remember having this disability before I became a nurse, but now, I am incapable of telling you which arm I just placed an IV in, nevermind hours later when I'm giving report. I'll call report and when they ask, I tell them, it's either right or left, 50/50 chance there!

I can also go to get a patient supply, and just after leaving their room, stand in front of the omnicell and stare at the little screen that wants to know the patient name. Hell if I know it - but I swear I knew it just a minute ago.

I hope it's just age. If it's blood sugar, I'm doomed, since I NEVER get to eat.

Oh I hate the days when I am especially "stupid"....I was trying to give report this am, & told the on coming nurse this pt is here with community admired pneumonia. :lol2:

I have the same issue! LOL...I stand in front of the omni cell thinking..I am the worse nurse ever, i cant even remember my pts name...........

1. i never remember their name when i get there.

2. I've done that with the kangaroo bags, I was doing it in the dark and didn't open that indented cap. Sticky!

3. Another thing that makes you feel like a dummy...."Man, I KNEW I shouldve restrained that pt!!" (from one neuro nurse to another!)

I had one Tuesday. Was on meds, off ystdy, came in today to 6 med errors - all omissions. 4 monthly B12 shots, a vitamin, and a baby aspirin. Doh! And I didn't sign off on the MAR for a buttload of stuff.

i think that we all have our *stupid* moments.. it is just a part of life and nursing.. just last week i was working an ER shift one night and got overwhelmed the moment i walked in the door.. i am not new to the ER by all means.. but that night i was laughing at myself because i couldn't seem to get anything right... i was thinking..*wow, they let me be a nurse?!*. i was having one of those *i have no idea what i am doing* nights... but as the shift went on... i got back in my groove and all went well..
