Ever had a premonition?

1) I had a patient pass away on Thursday, and his wife called five minutes after he stopped breathing, because she had a bad feeling.

2) I had a dream this morning that my father's best friend had died, and found out later this afternoon that he had in fact died this morning.

Has anyone else had a premonition like this, or heard of someone else who did? Exactly how common is it?

I had a scary one 3 days ago...

I was nursing a 68yrs old man with ICMP with EF of >10% with CRT-D implated. The whole day his ECG was in frequent NSVT with his CRT-D kicking in. He was conscious but lethargic throughout the night. At 2am, i left him sleeping with the door of his room open while i went to sponge patient with another SN. In the other patient's room, I was able to monitor his ECG and vital signs from the same bedside monitor. However, 45min later, for some rhyme or reason, i suddenly stopped clearing up the mess and announced to my fellow SN that "I needa go check on my patient" and left the room. I reached his room in time to see his ECG spiralled into VT... We resuscitated him for an hr plus...

I have no answer to my fellow SN when she asked me later what exactly prompts me to go check on him suddenly... I called that "Missy's Instinct"

Being a hospice nurse, I see a lot more death than many nurses. Families report these premonitions quite often.

What I'd like to know, but don't ask of course, is if they've had similar episodes when the Pt wasn't dying.

I was raised by my grandmother and when I was 13, I was having a dream that my grandmother died. My grandmother actually woke me up from my dream by calling me on my bedroom phone to come help her. The next day she was taken to the hospital by a cousin and we later found out that she had a heart attack. She died the next day. That dream is still vivid after 23 years later.

Also, I have had dreams since then about people I was close to or familiar with who have died and it became reality soon after.

I've had them ever since I can remember...one that sticks the most is my Dad's death...I woke minutes before the phone call and knew he was gone before I answered it.

I had a dream about my great grandfather the day before my son passed away. I hadn't dreamed about him in a long time. I remember him sitting in one of his old cars and he was talking to me. I remember the conversation being very comforting.

I look back on that dream and like to think that it was a preparation of sorts and a pledge that my son would not be alone.

i was a young air force wife and my husband was away on tdy. the night before he was supposed to arrive home, i had a dream that his plane crashed and burned on the flightline of the air force base where we were living. that was friday, february 13. my husband arrived home safely, and i thought everything was fine. but friday, march 13 a plane carrying several of our neighbors crashed and burned on the flightline.

i've had other premonitions, but none as dramatic as that one!

I dreamed that my father and I were in the kitchen and that he was explaining to me that we just go on, and that everything will be all right. But my father had died almost twenty one years earlier.

My mother died the following afternoon.

I've had many premonitions about patient deaths, several of them were correct.

So, anybody have the powerball numbers?

If I did have the numbers you would not see em posted here.

My premonitions are silly. Never about anything significant But I have been able to prove it to people.

I've never had a premonition, but my sister has had several. A major one was when one night, she dreamed about fire. Just seeing flames everywhere. The next day, we found out that a very close family friend had died in a beach house fire with 6 other college students that night. She was also convinced that our family dog was going to die because she had a dream about a brown dog dying. He didn't die, but her friend called the next day saying that HER brown dog had died.

When I was pregnant with my first child I had a dream that I was sitting in my childhood bed and I looked from one side of the bed to the other and there was a little boy on each side, one clearly bigger than the other. I woke up feeling really pleasant and happy about the dream. I ended up having a boy that first time and seven years later, I was blessed with a second baby boy! That dream was a great gift!
