Hey guys, new member here. Quick question has anyone else applied for the spring 2010 nursing program and if so when do we get acceptance/denial letters? thanks
Hi Rjordan
What time did you go to ECC? I was also there yesterday by 9am and was told Doozie would be there within an hour but ended up waiting two hours so i decided to leave because i had other things to attend to. Will definately bring all my health paperwork tomorrow at the orientation.

I talked to Doozie around 11:30am, so you just missed her. And yes bring your paperwork tomorrow!

many of you struggled through the registration process before being given a membership here. we apologize for that, but i think that after you have spent some time with us, you will understand why we are very particular about user names and passwords. this website hosts the most personable nursing discussion board on the internet. you'll find yourself discussing current daily topics on a more personal level and discover that everyone treats each other with respect on this discussion forum.
no potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:
- it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
- while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
- please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.
Hello,
I'm looking to apply to program at ECC and I wanted to know can you take Nursing I/II, with no other additional courses, in the same semester? I know they are both offered in Fall. Or what about Nursing II with Nursing III? Also, any additional advice on getting accepted into the program would be greatly appreciated. I am almost done all my pre-reqs, just need MicroBio and Chem 103 and I'm done.
Hi
No, you can't take Nursing I with Nursing II or Nursing III with Nursing IV. The courses are cumulative and build off of each other. Also, each one is a pre req for the other. NRS I is a pre req for NRS II, which is a pre req for NRS III and so on.
For entrance into the program, make sure that you get your application in by the deadline. Meet with the Nursing counselor in the Red area. I can't give you a name but I can tell you that her late day is on Tuesday. She's the authority on the Nursing Program and she's very approachable and nice. She can explain in further detail about the deadlines for the day/evening RN program.
After that you're already on the right path. Only thing is Microbiology is not a pre req for the program. Only English 101, Biology 121 and Chem 101/103. Micro is another requirement for the degree but not for entrance into the program. Again, get with this counselor and you'll get a clear understanding of the process including the point system they use to determine entrance after you take the PAX. Just go to the red area in the section marked counselors and ask the secretary who is the couns. that stays late on tuesdays.
Better yet, here is her room and telephone #: room 1120 phone 973-877-3539
Best wishes to you. :)
Thank you for your response. I greatly appreciate the info.
I'm actually a transfer student from Rutgers and I've also done coursework at a Community college. When it comes to GPA calculation, would they take the grades from the courses i've done at my former school into account in the GPA or just the courses I've done at ECC?
thanks again.
