Hello,
Do you have ER Department Scrub Colors. We currently can wear anything and it is impossible to tell the ER Staff from housekeeping.
What colors do you wear? What do you like or dislike about that color?
In the ER I work in we are the only department in the hospital that is color coded, but it helps the volunteers, lab people and transport techs spot the nurses. We can wear any top, but out pants are as follows
Nurses-Black
Techs- Navy Blue
Unit Coordiators- Royal Blue
Attendings- Forest Green
PA's- Maroon
Residents- Hospital Blues or Green
It really works quite well, but the black attracts blanket lint like stink on a wart hog:chuckle
I think nurses should have the freedom to wear what they want, however, i think some of the nursing scrubs are getting a little rediculus. example: hot pink with big blue teddy bears....just think if you were nauseated or had a headache
if nurses would introduce themselves as nurses more maybe it would help....maybe not!!
BIG RN name tags seem to help!!
I like what Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH does, instead of making staff wear uniforms they wear a bright yellow extension on their badge with thier title (RN, LNA etc.) so the patient can easily see if they are an LNA, RN, or something else. MUCH better than wearing the same color everyday... blah
I am still a nursing student, but it seems more hospitals are leaning towards uniforms . I was looking forward to buying pretty scrubs when I graduate in May.

Here's the breakdown in my ER:
ER Docs--Navy Blue
RN/LPN--Wine or White
ER Tech--Hunter Green
Registrars--Red w/ Black pants
Unit Secretaries-- Light Blue w/Black pants
We also have the occasional agency CNA to help with the staffing, and they wear Royal Blue.
We also have our scrubs embroidered with our first names and position, and ID badges are supposed to be displayed where the pt. can see them. In ER and Psych. there are no last names on the badges.
