Hi,
I recently graduated from my FNP program and got a job offer. It appears that the employment agreement is a contract-- I get fined $15-30K if I quit or get fired during my first 3 years of employment. Is this typical of an employment agreement? I feel weird negotiating anything because I'm a new grad...
Thanks.

You might want to have a lawyer look at it. The only time I've ever had that show up in an employment agreement is for the sign-on bonus for a job I just took; if I leave within two years of receiving the sign-on bonus, I have to pay back a pro-rated amount.

My place of employment has the NPs sign a contract for 2 years or else they pay 5,000-10,000 if they leave before then. I have never heard of you having to pay if they choose to fire you.

Bet that job sucks lmbo
Realistically, I need to add you should laugh at that offer and leave. You're indenturing yourself, and it infurates me they want to charge you this especially if they fire you. They could fire you just to collect a 30k dividend based on the simplified scenario given.

Hi..I'm just new here, I work in UAE, any condition that doesn't go with the ministry of labor conditions is not valid. There are limited nd opened contracts. The worse is the limited but it doesn't mean that the employee is under probation for three yrs. if the staff resigned then 45 days salary are applicable not any other amount.
My advice ; read well the labor law and consult a lawyer so, u will know we'll your rights.
Good luck

Simply put---RUN!!! I work in the USA and am in an at will state (Georgia). I am not sure how such a thing would hold up here. I agree with the others. What a business plan. Keep hiring new NPs and firing them and collecting the cash. WOW!

There is no way I would take that job. You are setting yourself up.
Take the contract to an attorney anyway. Most Physician Assistants do. It would be foolish not to.

This. A clause forcing you to pay that kind of money for them firing you is ridiculous. They could make a mint just on hiring and firing.
More common contract clauses in my area prevent you from working for competitors, getting PRN employment, and requiring you give 3 month notice if planning on leaving before the contract ends. I have never seen payment penalties on contracts, especially for being fired, with the exception of sign on bonuses.

I think this is part of their revenue stream. They hire and fire a handful of NPs a year and their are making bank, lol.
