Hi all,
Emory's New Grad Residency Program has begun accepting applications for their March 2014 cohort. Use this topic to post any updates or information about your experience with the application process.
Good luck to everyone!
I am interviewing for the ER at Midtown next week! Have you heard anything back from them, inGod'stime? Do you have any tips for the interview? I'm really excited for the opportunity to interview for the ER, but I'm a little concerned that my lack of experience in the ER is going to get in the way :-/
Thanks!
Congrats Rachel1987! I haven't heard anything back yet, but I was told that I was the very first to interview and that there were 25 others to follow. The interview was a lengthy problem-based interview with tons of "what if" and "name a time when" questions. I completed my senior preceptorship in the ER. Thats the only experience i have with the ER. Good luck in your interview!
I know you all have finished the application process for the interview. I'm applying for the Fall residency program. I had a few questions. First, in the FAQ section in the application it asks "are you a nurse." What do we put? Yes or no. Technically I'm not a nurse at the moment however, I will be. Also, when do we pick the area we want to focus on, does this happen during the interview?
I just applied for the late summer/fall RN Residency and I'm really nervous!! How long did they take to send you anything? It says my app was received but no other news. I go to a pretty reputable BSN program, but not in Georgia. I can get licensure for GA really easily, but I'm wondering if being out-of-state hurts my chances. :/ Any words of wisdom/advice? I'll be graduating in May and testing in June...
@KRN901 - Hi! So I applied for the spring program waaaay back in September. I got an email at the beginning / middle of December saying my application had been seen by the talent acquisition team and was being passed on to the hiring department. I didn't hear anything from them again until this past Friday, when the L&D director called to schedule an interview. I'm also from out of state, Connecticut - so it's about 16 hours away. I fly down tonight to interview tomorrow morning. They were very understanding about me being from out-of-state and worked with me to pick a good time (I wasn't sure if I would be able to rent a car because I'm not 25 yet, so at the time we scheduled the interview I was possibly driving down, so we picked a mid-afternoon time). I didn't have a Georgia license at the time, I only had a Connecticut license, but when I got the email about my application being passed on I applied for a Georgia license by endorsement and it took about 3 weeks to get my number, although I still don't have a physical copy of my GA license. I also went to a pretty reputable BSN program, but in New York, so I would say being out of state isn't going to really affect your chances. My only advice is, if possible, get your GA license as soon as you can (unless by the time you've tested, you know you won't be working at Emory). A LOT of graduates are getting their licenses in June/July so it may take longer to get your second license than you think. I know people who had to wait a month to get just their first license number, which you would need to get a GA license as well. Also, make sure you apply for your ATT immediately. I wanted to take the NCLEX in June as well but it took longer than I thought to get my ATT back and by then all the June dates were filled, so I had to wait until the first week in July. I would also recommend a Kaplan review course - they're a little pricey but if I hadn't taken that class, I'm not sure I would have passed the first time. They taught us a lot of good tricks to use and I definitely used them when I took the NCLEX. Good luck!!

abiscuit: I was wondering if you have heard anything else from emory? I too have had a verbal offer from the nurse manager and Darrell. I have done the background check and references. And haven't heard anything since.
