@Rahcel1987- No, I didn't! I actually was supposed to interview with both Emory and WellStar today; WellStar called me Monday night and said they were moving all the interviews until Friday. I was like "ummm I can't just drop everything like that, I already changed my work schedule around last minute for Wednesday!" so we cancelled it; however they called today saying the storm was so bad that they were postponing AGAIN until next Thursday, so I changed my hotel/car/flight and will be down in Atlanta the 19th to the 21st. I called the woman I was supposed to interview with at Emory early Tuesday morning to check the status and she agreed to phone interview today, but she was so busy that we postponed that as well. She's supposed to call me back sometime in the next couple days. I'm hoping she'll call soon and I can tell her that I'll be in Georgia next Thursday and hopefully we can schedule a face-to-face interview. I'm so nervous but also SO excited, I want this job at Emory sooooo bad!! This is literally my dream job haha. Have you had your interview yet?? If so, how'd it go?

It was actually a gorgeous day outside here in Connecticut today, we don't get the storm until tomorrow. I've already called work to tell them I probably wasn't going to risk it and they've already decided to close tomorrow! It looks so bad and the state has run out of ice and salt for the roads with all the storms this year. What a winter.

Were you able to reschedule your interview with Emory? My friend was able to do a phone interview on Thursday for a Med/Surg position and she lives in Atlanta.

@rinskins-- I did have my interview, and I would say it went well. It was tough, but I went in confident and mentally prepared, and it seems to have paid off. I may have even received some good news  Did you ever hear back from Emory's L&D? The ice storm definitely threw everyone out of whack.... we're not used to that kind of weather down here! I hope you were able to work everything out and your interview goes well!

@Rachel1987 & JustMissyPrissy - She was supposed to call me today to reschedule, I didn't hear from her so I called and left a voicemail. Hopefully I didn't miss the opportunity. And congrats on your good news, Rachel1987!

@Rachel1987- how soon after your interview did you hear back from them? (I'm assuming that's what your good news was, if not then I take the question back haha).

Emory called with an offer in the ER!!! Now I have a dilemma... I recently declined an offer at Houston Medical to accept at Dekalb Medical. After completing thevpre-employment screen last week, I get the offer from Emory... This is definitely the one I wanted, but I dont know what I should do in this situation. Would I be wrong to call Dekalb and decline after accepting since the job does not start until March 3rd?

I just got an email from Darrell with TONS of paperwork. I'm so happy to hear back though!

@rinskins-- I believe that I heard three days later, but during my interview I let them know I was considering other opportunities and asked for a timeline, so I don't know if that had anything to do with how quickly they got back to me. The recruiter also mentioned he was making a few calls that day, and I think I got grouped into that batch of calls. Did you ever get in touch with anyone? Did you reschedule your interview?

@inGod'stime-- What are you going to do? That's a rough situation to be in. I know of people who have retracted an accepted offer to take another offer, but I would say that's probably looked down upon. Is the position at DeKalb also in the ED? Take a look at the pros and cons of each and do what you're comfortable with. No matter what decision you make, you need to try to make that decision sooner rather than later and get back to both companies with your decision. Don't forget that whoever you turn down will probably want to fill your position, so give them ample time to fill the vacancy. Good luck!

I am very thankful that Mr. Darrell suggested that I just call him on Monday. I understand that this is something that is very time sensitive, but at the same time this is potentially one of the most important decisions I've ever had to make and I owe it to myself to be thorough and thoughtful in deciding! Both positions are in the ED which helps in muddying the waters for me. The other hospital pays a tad more base and I already know I'd be working nights there. Won't know until after the residency at Emory. I know i want to go back to school, so Emory would be best in that perspective. Plus, I got 3 calls from Emory yesterday...is that a sign?

@Rachel1987 - Yup, I went for both interviews this past Thursday. Both of them seemed to go well (I was at Emory for 2 hours meeting with the director and the preceptor, but the other hospital was an acute care position and not in a good part of GA. I really did love Emory... but I accepted a job in my home state yesterday. I was told the residency at Emory would start some time in early/mid March, and that is NOT enough time to give my current job 2 weeks plus find an apartment. If it had been my only option I would have rushed to make it work but I was offered a job at a very well-known hospital here.

Best of luck to everyone else. Emory was a GORGEOUS hospital, I hope you'll all love it!

Original poster here...I received an email that I was not selected (for a med-surg position), but such is life. I'm more interested in public health nursing anyway. I did find it amusing that I was apparently good enough to get into grad school at Emory back in 2000, but not good enough for the nurse residency program. I wish the best to those of you still in the running, so to speak!
