Emory New Grad Residency Program, Spring 2014 - updates?

Published

Hi all,

Emory's New Grad Residency Program has begun accepting applications for their March 2014 cohort. Use this topic to post any updates or information about your experience with the application process.

Good luck to everyone!

Hi all! I just had a phone interview yesterday for the oncology unit at Emory Midtown and was asked to be a candidate for the program! Yay! I live and Tennessee and I guess will be relocating in March. If anyone is looking for a roommate or has any apartment suggestions please let me know. Good luck to all!

Also heads up to anyone who gets an interview. Mine were all situational questions (tell me a time you delegated a task, when was a time you were a leader, tell me of a time you used problem solving, etc)

Hey Ambervie!

My best friend just got an RN job at Northside in oncology and is moving up there in a few weeks I know she is looking for a roommate (I was between Wake Forest and Emory but got offered Wake Forest a couple months ago) so I won't be moving to ATL. Maybe you could get in touch with her! I am not sure how this works or if I can send you a private message?

Natasha :)

Hey Natasha! That sounds great! I can give you my email cause I'm not sure if you can send messages privately or anything and I will try and keep it touch that way. It's [email protected] Thanks! ?

Hey this is Natasha's friend! haha I just sent you an email from [email protected] I am actually up here in ATL this week (I'm from Florida) looking for places. Im moving here the end of the month and starting my oncology internship at Northside Hospital in a Feb. A nice place here can get pretty expensive, so planning on signing a two bedroom in hopes to find a roommate. Love to know if you interested! I linked some contacts to my email so feel free to give me a text/call :)

I finally received the email about forwarding to my resume to the hiring managers today. Is there typically a phone screen with HR after this or do the unit managers make phone calls for interviews? Also, about how long did it take to receive a call after getting this email for most?

I had a phone interview and "offer" followed by papers from the recruiter for background checks, etc. How long was it before you received the official papers?

I also received an email today about having info passed on to the hiring department.

Have you received a formal offer yet? I had a great

interview but it is not uncommon for

them to do background checks on several

applicants.

mangohead are you from out of state? I was wondering if they do phone interviews for everyone or just if you do not live in GA.

smo153: It is my understanding they do a "phone screen" for everyone and decide from there whether or not to send you on to a nurse manager for an in person interview. I talked on the phone with a recruiter and then actually met a nurse manager for an interview after the recruiter recommended me to them. After that interview you meet the nurse residency recruiter for a follow up interview but for me that was done after I already had a job offer from the manager.

I have a verbal offer but have not seen any additional paperwork since I filled out the background check and references form back in December.

abiscuit: I was wondering if you have heard anything else from emory? I too have had a verbal offer from the nurse manager and Darrell. I have done the background check and references. And haven't heard anything since...
