The Fall 2021 application for Emory opens tomorrow so I wanted to create this thread for people to connect, share experiences with the application process, and stats (if you choose to). Good luck everyone!!

Oh that's awesome. I think I only applied to the Distance ABSN. I want to do the MSN as well...but didn't apply for that part.....ugh!

Hi Michelle, the distance ABSN is a 52 week program but the huge difference is that you can take your courses at home and then head to the campus 3 times during the program for simulations and clinicals. You also get to do your clinicals in your hometown.
I like that because I have a 1 year old and for now can't think of travelling to another state.

I bet there is a way to apply to the MSN part after enrolling in the DABSN program!
I was confused by this new program as well, but admissions told me to apply to this new joint program. At first, I was looking to the regular accelerated MSN.

Rmcollins, this is interesting what you are saying....I was confused as well. They seem to not have updated their website.....I am going to see if there is a way to do the MSN after. Thanks for letting me know that.

Of course. I think for ultimate clairity, you would be best emailing admissions directly. They usually respond within a few hours and are very helpful! The website does seem outdated, so I don't know if it would be as informative. Good luck!

Hi Podsmom66! Congratulations!
I think that when it comes to making a decision as to which particular university it becomes a matter of personal choice. I think what makes a university or college advantageous tends to be the faculty and its commitment to research in the medical field.
If there are other universities that are just as respected but lower tuition rates, then definitely go ahead and apply. Personally, I find that attending a well respected school at times may push us to be better.
I had sticker shock when I saw the tuition rates at Emory. But, since this will be my second career, I would prefer to attend a top 10 rated school. As I said, personal preference. However, if money was an issue, I would seek an alternative option that's cheaper. For example, I live in South Florida and for nursing, the University of Miami is highly ranked in Florida. I would attend UM if I didn't see it necessary to splurge at Emory.
Again, congrats. When did you submit your application by the way?
I was accepted also and my decision will absolutely come down to price. Smory is my first choice and Im.being evaluated for a merit scholarship but youre right, it does not have to be a top tier school or crazy expensive to get a good education. Do whats right for you, apply for scholarships and then make a decision.
