I wish I had a nickel for every time a patient presents to the ER with an extensive list of medications, that of course doesn't have the list with them because we have it "on file". HELLO!!!!!!!

Why are you :angryfire ? It was a completely natural question to ask when anyone complains about their job. When I start working as a nurse, I like to hope I'll be able to change areas if I get frustrated with another.
This being said with a smile by the way :)

I guess it was meant more "devilish" than angry fire!!
:)
And there is a BIG difference between venting and complaining.
I LOVE being a nurse...and ER nursing is the best place to be. But, if we cannot vent about the stupid and/or painful sh## we see and have to deal with...look out suicide rates.
The frustration is with the healthcare system in general, across the nation, that fosters many of the problems we are talking about here.
So I repeat over and over the serenity prayer...
And then I log on here!

wish I had a nickel (or 1 penny, for that matter) for every patient who can not wait to get into the ER for their non-emergency complaint. Then, once they are in the back, keep bugging you about how long till they can leave. !
Man...
Just think how RICH we would all be!!!!!

That should be illegal, the same way that in most hospitals around here the family can't tape the delivery of a baby. No audio, video or still pics of the birth.
You can take pics of baby when it's on the warming table, but not during birth.
At least you don't end up in some kids baby book. I'm sure it's very rare that ED patients take videos of procedures to show to their family and friends. "Hey, I went to the ED for my n/v/d, wanna see the video? OK, there's the nurse, and look, he's starting my IV! Now he's giving me the emesis basin, oh, just in time, too!" :)

Anyole thing is possible here in Plano Texas
Republican stronghold in the state of texas
Ive seen it happen before and It will happen again.
I think the main criteria is they cant violate the privacy of another patient in the ER
As long as the one being viseotaped gives their consent
The old days I would have gotten angry
But Back then they didnt have those silly Vid Cams
Easier to smile and take the path of least resistance
This is the key to enlightenment
