So at the beginning of the semester I was all a twitter over Statistics and was pretty sure that I was never going to get it. Well I took the final today and though I don't know how I did I felt good about it, so far my class average is 99.65 or something obscene like that so I don't need much on the final to hold on to a decent grade but am so gosh darn relieved to be out of that class and out of information systems..now onward to community health!

Good job on the Statistics! I am pretty nervous about that but don't have to take it til the spring.

I'm in Informatics and Health Assessment now and a little confused why they didn't call informatics EBP??? Anyway got a chance to plot out the rest of my courses and will be done by the end Aug!!! Yay I'll earn my BSN and LC at the same time getting excited.

Keep moving forward everyone here comes the next wave of "professional nurses"

Ahh, Thanks for the heads up Lunah :).

As for the financial aid Shawn, I just did a fafsa and am taking more student loans out. Who are you working with? I'm working with Josh, and he's outstanding. Are you going to be able to have everything together for the Oct 26th start? I'm starting with professional transitions, maybe we'll be in class together...well, figuratively speaking lol.

Hi NurseN2000,

I did start 10/26. I am currently enrolled in Transitions to professional nursing and a humanities elective. I will be taking 3 classes B session. Trying to be done by June. I needed 10 classes to graduate. My goal is 5 a semester.

How is the class going for you?

So far so good, I wonder if we're in the same class?? Week one is great, I'm looking at week 2 and having a little confusion over using the library search engine to find an article from a nursing journal though, I've never had to do that before, Last time I went to school my journal articles were on paper pages lol. How's it going for you?

It's going ok. Only thing I have done was the two posts. Hopefully I will catch up tomorrow. My instructor is (moderator edit of name) (NR351ON_AJ). We might be in the same class.. Im not liking the cultural diversity class. Too many papers to write.

Hello All-

Started Community Health and Statistics this semester, not so sure about the statistics class but seems doable so far. Just finished community health which was a very interesting course despite all of the papers, lol. Just a tip, I noticed the Devry classes have their books online so I looked up my Community Health book online and I will split the cost of the ebook with another classmate. It comes out to about $33 each, a decent savings off the hardcover book.

Good luck to everyone this semester!

For the statistics course, pay close attention to Brent's Sunday night lectures. They're recorded and you can listen to them at any time. If it weren't for them, I never would have passed. I got an "A" in the course. Listen to Brent and you'll get one too!

That is a great tip, thank you Susan!

I got an "A" too and I agree attend the live lectures or listen to the recordings and join his face book stat's cave for even more tips and tricks. I never would of done so well without those lectures.

Thanks it went well. I agree the information systems would be more properly called a course in EBP and research since that is all you do for 8 weeks.

I start Jan 4th with Transitions in profess nursing & cultural diversity in the profesions. Just a tad nervous I hate writing papers

Specializes in ED, ICU, lifetime Diabetes Education.

I'm considering applying for Jan. but I also hate writing papers. It is depending on $ now because iim supposed to go to Honduras in July on a medical mission trip w/ my church.

I was really intimidated with having to write papers but it hasn't been bad at all. I'm finishing up my third session and so far it has been a good experience.

Transitions gets you started with the paper writing. If you get a good instructor it is a very helpful class. Kind of sets the stage for the rest of the nursing classes as far using APA. You'll both do fine!
