Can you give me any ideas of what some of these papers everyone talks about are like? Do they give you topics? Questions to answer? Is there a lot of research involved? etc.

It varies. For Health Assessment, I had to write papers on journal articles (a review, essentially) and assessment scenarios. Generally speaking, they usually assign the topic, or give you a list of possible topics. At least that's the way it's been for me in the classes I've taken. Yep, there is some research involved.

Ahh, Thanks for the heads up Lunah :).

As for the financial aid Shawn, I just did a fafsa and am taking more student loans out. Who are you working with? I'm working with Josh, and he's outstanding. Are you going to be able to have everything together for the Oct 26th start? I'm starting with professional transitions, maybe we'll be in class together...well, figuratively speaking lol.

Thanks for all the info Lunah. Can you give me any ideas of what some of these papers everyone talks about are like? Do they give you topics? Questions to answer? I have taken 5 classes with Chamberlain so far and really the papers are not that bad. So far many of them have been 2-4 page small papers and usually one 6-8 page larger one. There is a lot of research in some of the nursing classes, like Informations systems for healthcare(all evidenced based research) and evidence based nursing is all research too. They really walk you through it though so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Sue, I appreciate your insight :). I will be starting next monday, yay!!! I'm taking NR351 Transitions in session A and Socs350 Cultural Diversity in session B. Is there a list of elective type classes I can look at to pick my last class? I got a little freaked out when I first heard about all the papers, I thought about picking Kaplan... SOOO glad I researched so many options and did not. Of all the programs I researched, Chamberlain met the most of my needs and I have worked with the nicest, most polite people who have taken excellent care of me. Some of my coworkers think I'm making a poor choice to spend twice as much as the local state colleges, but I have told them I'm willing to pay for the convenience and enjoyment of not having to run around with clinicals or do big group projects... I'm going to do it the way I want to do it, by studying and enjoying the process, not being stressed out for months on end like LPN and RN school. I've already done nursing "school" twice, now I want to enjoy the learning!

I think the admission staff at chamberlain are some of the nicest folks I have ever dealt with. It isn't nearly as stressful as going through an LVN or RN program the first time around. You do get a chance to kind of slow down and actually enjoy learning. My advice to you is to get the latest addition of the APA book. It will become your bible for writing at this school. Best of luck, I loved soc350!

So at the beginning of the semester I was all a twitter over Statistics and was pretty sure that I was never going to get it. Well I took the final today and though I don't know how I did I felt good about it, so far my class average is 99.65 or something obscene like that so I don't need much on the final to hold on to a decent grade but am so gosh darn relieved to be out of that class and out of information systems..now onward to community health!

I just want to give a big ole congratulations to my fellow posters finishing up the summer semester this week as well. You guys rock!

Hello everybody. im also starting on the 26th. I would like to know if it is compulsory to buy the textbooks. I have a textbook for health assessment by Carolyn Jarvis. I really like the author Jarvis and would like to use that book instead of theirs but i dont know if they assign specific pages for assignments. I just wanted to know if it is necessary to use their textbook or a book by another author would work. Thanks and and good luck to us all.

We did have specific reading assignments for class, but if you could match up the subject matter, it probably wouldn't be too different. Good luck!

Hey all,

I just submitted all of my papers to chamberlain. And I am having second thoughts. The it is kind of pricey. I don't know yet. I have 11 courses to complete and I am trying to do it in 2, 3,3,3 to finish by july any input will be helpful. I did get financial aid but what about the loans:eek: any response would be helpful

Chamberlain is somehwat pricey, but I am starting today, and so far the first course looks very, very good. I love the format of Chamberlain, with the two 8 week sessions. By the looks of it, it is just what I was hoping for, and personally I'm happy to pay for a good program that is going to meet all of my needs and provide me with a good education. I'm looking at it that way, rather than thinking I could get it for less money (but at what price to my lifestyle?). That helps me to justify the cost.

Just food for thought :)

Thanks again,

But i have decided to opt out of chamberlain and go to a traditional program starting in Jan. I will attending class 1 day a week for a year. good luck to all with your studies.
