I am starting online RN-BSN via Chamberlain College of Nursing from July. Just wondering if any nurses out there who will be starting the program or in the program>
Any suggestion/idea is appreciated as it will be my first online program...........
Thank you!!!!
WynddrivenrainCan you tell me what class you took previously that they accepted for health assessments?
I took health assessment in my ADN program. The ADN program had it as a separate nursing class so that those of us who went on for our BSN would not need to take it again. They were just forward thinking at the time.

this is my first post, so bear with me. I am planning to start Chamberlain RN-BSN online in a few weeks, I keep reading about lots of papers to write. I'm ok with writing the papers, but can anyone tell me more about the classes? Are there any lectures online to supplement the reading assignments? I'm pretty excited, I've looked at a lot of online and local schools, and this looked like the best format to me, with the split session semesters... I think that's such a neat idea! I always wished that I could take one class at a time when I was a full time student in the past.
I am transferring in a lot of credits, did anyone have any issues with this process? Any other information you can give me about the program, I would love to hear it
Oh, and I see a lot of people asking others to private message them for more info, how do you private message someone???
Thanks!!

I think all of my classes have had weekly lectures to read, usually to supplement the weekly reading assignments, if applicable. Most classes also seem to have a weekly chat, which I am rarely able to attend due to scheduling issues -- they're not mandatory, though, and you can read the chat transcripts later anyway. :)
I had 206 credits prior to starting with Chamberlain, and I had very few issues with transferring credits. I ended up only needing 30 credits with Chamberlain as far as academic requirements, but students must take 32 credits with Chamberlain to graduate, so I took a two-credit computer class. Worked out just fine.
Regarding private messaging (PM), you can only use that when you've made 15 posts or more. You should see a little paper and pencil next to a user's name, and you can select that to send a private message to other users.
Welcome to Allnurses, and good luck with Chamberlain! I've enjoyed the program so far.
Hi DD,
Yes, Hopefully I'll be starting Oct. 26th too!!! My financial aid is ready, we are just waiting for my WSU transcripts to arrive, allegedly they mailed them on the 25th of Sept. Josh was going to reorder them if they weren't here by monday. My ADN transcripts have arrived though, so he said even without the WSU I can probably get started and they would adjust my program once they received it. Hopefully it will be soon, I did 4 years at WSU and that's a lot of the non-nursing credits... I think I will be somewhat like you Lunah, will probably not need more than about 30 and will end up picking up an elective or so to get my 32 credits.
It's exciting to hear someone else is going to be in the program with me!!!
Now I need to get my posting numbers up so I can PM people!!! lol.
I had started just this last August at the OU RN-BSN career mobility track, but I withdrew within the first 2 weeks so was able to withdraw completely. It threw a few glitches into my FAFSA, because I had to repay 100% of my loans (which I had already done) but my fafsa showed that i had already received disbursement of funds and was ineligible for more. It was pretty easily straightened out though, the bursars office at OU wrote a letter to the school and gave me a copy too, stating that all of my funds had been returned.
Did you apply anywhere else DD? I was looking at Excelsior and Kaplan, but after researching them both I saw way too many red flags at Kaplan, and noticed that some of the Excelsior credits weren't recognized (somewhere, by someone, I don't recall who or what organization lol, I have been to countless sights including the BBB digging up info). Chamberlain was not pushy, Josh spent about an hour on the phone with me explaining everything, answered all of my questions and was really nice.
I can't wait to get started, I was in pure school mode in August, and it felt like the rug was pulled out from under me when OU didn't work out.
Amazon Visa rocks!
Except my bibliophile husband always uses up the $25 gift cards. :angryfire
Anyone out there enrolled/considering Excelsior Masters in Nursing?
PS (b/c I can't PM yet)
Lunah RN, congrats on the CEN, and thanks for your support (we did EC CPNE around the same time and chatted a few times) I just happened to pass the CCRN and think you'd be a shoe-in for it--doesn't require ICU experience; the AACN states acute care is OK.
Hi everyone,
My name is Dj. I have just completed excel Rn program. I am contemplating on starting Chamberlain on Oct. 26. Hope we can rally up a study group:loveya:! I am not very big on writing papers!!! I actually hate it. But I do want my bsn so I am going to have to suck it up:eek: I eventually would like to be a FNP so that is my goal. Thanks for the prev. info. it sounds like a pretty doable program.
Dj,Rn
i am still doing my financial aid which should be all set tues. i did check out a couple other schools and found that chamberlain was the most professional. they didn't call 3 times a day. i have 42 credits to complete which i am cool with. not sure why i need to take algebra again but i like it and wouldn't mind the refresher.
getting excited to get started...
