Lunah RN, congrats on the CEN, and thanks for your support (we did EC CPNE around the same time and chatted a few times) I just happened to pass the CCRN and think you'd be a shoe-in for it--doesn't require ICU experience; the AACN states acute care is OK.

I saw your post about passing the CCRN -- congrats!! :) That rocks. I have some CCRN study material, but haven't gotten too serious about that one yet. But yes, it's a goal. :D

yay dj!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found out today that Chamberlain accepted all of my transfer credits, so I came in 2 under the required 32!!! My financial aid is set, I'm ready to start on the 26th, as soon as I fill out the enrollment paperwork and fax it back to Josh.

I'm excited to get going finally!! Can anyone tell me about the Professional Transitions course? Josh is recommending that I start with this course.

Congrats!! I also needed just 30 credits by requirements, so I took the only 2-credit class offered to make up the difference: COMP100, Computer Applications for Business -- AKA "All About Office 2007." It was easy-peasy, but only because I'm been a computer/software nerd since the 80s, and an expert MS Office user for a long, long time. :D

The professional transitions class wasn't bad -- I started with that one, too (actually did that one and COMP100 at the same time). There isn't a required textbook, really; all the lessons are online. I did by the APA manual, though -- I think it's listed as recommended.

I am almost done Transitions in Nursing and really enjoyed the class. It is a great way to start and get used to writing again if you are a little rusty. Personally I didn't look at the book they have you buy and wish I hadn't gotten it. They have a really nice APA tutorial avail. Congrats and good luck!

Has anyone found where to get a few of the books a little cheaper? I'm taking Health Assessment in Fall A and the book is pricey. I'm taking it along with Information Systems. Can anyone tell me how these 2 classes are?

I bought my Health Assessment book on Amazon -- it was much cheaper! Pretty good textbook, I have to say, as textbooks go. I'm just finishing this class, and it wasn't bad. There was a paper due each week, but they were short -- like 3 or 4 pages at the most. No actual exams -- nice! There is a final PowerPoint project that I'm working on right now (or, trying to work on ... I've lost my focus for the day!). It's not a bad class at all. Just lots of writing. :)

Thanks I am looking forward to it. A few short papers is fine with me!

Thanks for all the info Lunah. Can you give me any ideas of what some of these papers everyone talks about are like? Do they give you topics? Questions to answer? Is there a lot of research involved? etc. Just curious as to what lies ahead, I haven't written a college paper in 10 years, I WILL be one of the rusty ones lol.

Hey everyone, I am thinking of starting Chamberlain Oct 26 as well. I started Walden in June and am withdrawing. Wouldnt be done until March 2011. Does anyone know how their financial aid works. I have been in and out of school since 96 and only have about 5k in loans left. Do they require you pay a certain amount at a time. Can you pay as you go, ect? I will be faxing unofficial transcripts over tomorrow, but im sure I will only have 10 classes left to take. So I am going to try and take 5 a semester and be done in June/July. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Shawn
