i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

Wow - what kinda clinical instructor is this person? Sounds like she needs to pay attention - especially when multiple people say the same thing!

Everybody has a supervisor somewhere - but sometimes, you just make things worse for yourself in the long run. Tip: Document the problems as they happen so at the END of the semester you can turn them all in to the dean, and this way if she fails someone, there is documentation to support your side rather than just "well she just is a witch". You always want it in writing, and you always want specific times, dates and actions. That's the only way anything changes.

She was eating a cinnamon roll and drinking coffee while she was checking me off. She wasn't paying attention at all. It irritates me to no end but what am I going to do? I don't know who to go to with complaints.

It's a good idea to document everything right now. If you want to talk to somebody about your complaints you can follow chain of command. We covered this chain of command during lecture:

1. instructor

2. program coordinator

3. associate dean

4. dean

5. vice president

6. president of campus

I hope you feel better now. You made high A-s so far and you know that you are able to pass check offs with 100. :nurse:

She was eating a cinnamon roll and drinking coffee while she was checking me off. She wasn't paying attention at all. It irritates me to no end but what am I going to do? I don't know who to go to with complaints.

Today we had meds check off and she took off 2 points because she didn't hear me ask my pt. if they were having any difficulty swallowing even though I asked my pt. TWICE and my pt. even told her I asked her and the teacher said, "I didn't hear it...that's the end of this conversation." :angryfire

Every single time I have had a check off, she has taken off for something that she didn't see or hear but I HAD DONE IT. I was soooo mad today that I actually cried...which I hardly ever do....ever.

I'm sorry that you're having to go through all that... let me know how it goes for you. I was too afraid of being "labeled" to say anything about my incident

I just got home from work and my husband had a dozen tulips ( my favorite flower) and the sweetest card waiting for me. That really made my day!!!!! I called him earlier to tell him the situation so he ran and did that on his lunch break. It made me so happy :)

That's so sweet. Just don't let that instructor discourage you. You can do it!!! (Just stress everything, and repeat everything until the instructor looks up from taking a bite.) :chuckle

Why is she eating and drinking in a patient's room?

I'd look in her direction and indicate I was ready to perform the skill and wait till she was looking.

I can't see how she is doing her job if she is eating instead of teaching you and guiding you.

I'm very nervous too... I feel like no matter how much I read, it won't be enough! When do you take the test? I have mine at 8:30am on friday. Let's keep each other in our prayers!!

Deep breathe! Eat well tonite, and whatever you usually eat in the morning for fuel. Spend a little time NOT studying and just relaxing this evening - even if it's just 20 minutes to go out and walk or play with your pet or family, and then do something nice for yourself - maybe a little special desert or a nice soak in the tub after you are done studying.

These are all important parts of preparing for tests too!!!
