Hey Brianna-

Do you happen to know what the lecture will be that you're watching tomorrow? I was going to go sit in his class but I wasn't sure if it was something we've already been lectured over. He said it was for THR students so I thought I could ask you! :)

Tomorrow's lecture will cover Anxiety, Coping-Stress Tolerance, The caregiver role, Health Protections: Risk for infection, Risk of injury, and Sensory/perceptual function. Harkreader Chapters 21,22,37,39,41,46, Lewis chapters 19 and 20.

I'm not sure if I will be there b/c I have a bacterial infection, but it starts at 4pm and goes until 8:30pm

That is GREAT!!! Congratulations!!

My meds check off is tomorrow and I haven't even looked at the check off sheet. I had PA check off yesterday and my teacher took off one point because she didn't see me put on my gloves for oral inspection although I DID AND MY PATIENT SAW THAT I DID (and tried to stick up for me)....I honestly think this teacher has some weird thing out for me.....My gloves were balled up together on the floor (there wasn't a trash can nearby) and I asked her how they got balled up and on the floor if I had never used them??????????????????? She said, "I didn't see you, that's the end of that discussion..." the next girl (after me) did Homans sign but the teacher didn't see her and she said, "Yes I did do it...you just didn't see me.." and she said, "okay...I'll give you the points..." :angryfire And that girl walked away with a 100... Not that one point is really detremental...it's just the principle.

Thank you so much for this information! I don't know if I will make it because we had this lecture last week.

I am so sorry you're not feeling well :(

Good job everyone. Exactly what is done on an 'oral inspection'? Do you look inside each other's mouths?

Hey Funnie! I love watching your countdown!!! Are you still going for NL?

Yes- oral inspection is done on each other. You learn alot about your clinical group- I can promise you that! We just look in each other's mouths and note any lesions or strange colorings, etc. When our teacher was a nursing student 50 years ago, they had to do enemas and shots on each other. Can you imagine????????????? I understand that you have to learn but that's a major privacy invasion (the enemas)!!

Yep, still going for NL.

I think I'd rather have shots then someone to look in my mouth. :chuckle Maybe I'll pair up with an old, old, old person with dentures.....

We can compare dental history, along with wrinkles and bulging fat that wasn't there before starting back to school. :uhoh3:

Thanks, and Good Luck! :nurse:

Make sure that you do all the key points with stars next to them. There is going to be enough time to do everything slowly and carefully.

What was she doing that she didn't see you wearing gloves? And gloves make noise when you take them off. This sounds like differential treatment to me if she gave someone else points and she didn't ''see'' it.

But if it doesn't bother you, it doesn't bother me.

She was eating a cinnamon roll and drinking coffee while she was checking me off. She wasn't paying attention at all. It irritates me to no end but what am I going to do? I don't know who to go to with complaints.

Today we had meds check off and she took off 2 points because she didn't hear me ask my pt. if they were having any difficulty swallowing even though I asked my pt. TWICE and my pt. even told her I asked her and the teacher said, "I didn't hear it...that's the end of this conversation." :angryfire

Every single time I have had a check off, she has taken off for something that she didn't see or hear but I HAD DONE IT. I was soooo mad today that I actually cried...which I hardly ever do....ever.
