i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
Hey DCCCD group!
I love to read your "stories" about school! I get excited thinking that within a year that will be me ! I'm also impressed by all your hard work and GREAT grades!!! I've heard in the Nursing Program you have to forget about "A"s and "B"s and to just concentrate on passing - which is NOT my mindset at all!!!
I have a few questions, especially for the El Centro students. Even though it is early in the semester, do you all have any regrets about being at El Centro? Does the program seem to be well organized, and do the instructors seem to be "for you" and want you to succeed? I am only asking because I have a neighbor friend who is a student at El Centro who has recommended that I NOT apply there!
Thanks for the input and for your willingness to share your experiences!
I don't regret applying at El Centro at all. The teacher say they are there to help us which they. When I have ask questions they don't hesitate to answer me at all. Everyone made some of the teachers worse then they are but I find them very helpful. Each one of them is pretty different which makes it interesting. If I had to do it all over again, I would still pick El Centro. Sometimes they are not that organize but they do have a lot of stuff to do and a lot of programs they have to keep up with but for the most part they are good. Nursing school is stressful no matter where you are at.

I attend North Lake and I love it, so far. I was lucky to have a great clinical group. We have a tradition now, every lab day somebody brings breakfast for the group. It's usually muffins or cookies or apples or bananas, something that we can eat during breaks. :)
Faceinbooks was right, you have to do a lot of work on your own. You have to attend classes and... you have to copy and read the articles, you have to watch the videos, you have to sign up for open lab, you have to read the textbook and you should start practicing NCLEX questions, too. It's a lot of work, but probably other nursing schools' students do the same.

Thanks, but I don't think that I'm any smarter than any of you all. Both programs are very demanding, just in different ways!! THR's program uses the same accreditation as EC, therefore, the programs should be no different. Do you really think that EC/NL students have it easier? I've actually heard the opposite!!!
