El Centro Spring 2015

Published

Hi all,

I am starting a tread for all the students that will be applying for spring 2015 ADN program at El Centro. Please join and give any info that you might have. I want to be successful as well as everyone else trying to apply.

Hello All, it seems like I will be applying for the Spring semester as well. So far I have 27 points, I know it's not enough, but I'm scheduled to take HESI monday to see if I can at least gain 1 or 2 more points. I'm not sure if I have a chance, but I'm planning on studying my butt off. We'll see.

Good Luck you can do it!

I don't believe there is a specific answer for your question. It will all depend on the vaccines you've already had in past, the ones you need, and how long it will take to gather all supporting documents.

I was afraid of this my appt. is July 9th and the deadline is July 15th. I leave on vacation on July 11th I am so ready to relax. This is my last week of Summer I and my brain is fried! My last obstacle is my physical and titters. I know as a child I had all my immunizations but no proof.

@ CassandraKcVega Ohhh no!!!! Will you still have time to get those records? If you think you had all of the immunizations you can set appt with your PCP and ask them to draw blood titers. If you show a positive immunity then it is obvious that you had them. It will be less expensive for you to get blood work done and submit that as proof to El Centro than having to get all of your immunizations.

I am hoping I can have all the paperwork done. I recently had lab work done and was hoping it was for the titers as the nurse told me. I called back but they found no information on the titters so I am assuming I was tested for something else like a check up. My question is has ANYBODY had titers done and how long did it take them to get the results.

Blood work results usually take 2-3 business days. The sooner you do it the better.

I had titers done awhile back. Arevalcs1 is right. It usually takes a couple of days. Im from overseas and came here to the US when I was really young. So bloodwork for me was the only proof to see what I already have. The quicker the better. Im sure if you talk to your PCP they will be able to help you further.

Thank you both. I have called and just faxed them I hope they can help me out. I am now scared since I saw the HepB vaccination is given in a set of 3 the first a month difference the second two months difference. Do we get HepB vaccinations as children or adults?

Usually when you are younger, but they can always check for immunity with titers. If you show that you're not immune then you'll have to get your hep B injections. Although, I think you will be okay as long as you get the first dose and have all three injections completed before you start clinicals.

I've been trying to respond to your first question, but I was out in Colorado and where I was...I had terrible signal until I hiked up to the top of a mountain!! Back home now!! Hahaa!! Anywho, I went to high school here in Texas so I used my immunization record from school!! I was current on all immunizations as well(including hep B series) bc I had taken a CNA/Phlebotomy course!! The only thing I did not have was the 2nd dose of varicella which I got a titer for bc I had chicken pox!! The titer took 3business days to come back!! During my physical all I got was the skin test(TB) done and my titer!! I also got a flu shot from Health dept!! As far as I know and read you can apply as long as you have the first two series of the hep B shot!! Initial dose then the 1month follow up!!! Hope this helped answer your question!!

I had started my shots and wouldn't get the 2nd dose in time when applications were due, so I freaked out, and ended up getting Titers done at Any Lab Test Now and had my results emailed to me in 3 days. I highly recommend them.

Thank you all very much for all the advice. Well I finally bugged my Dr. enough and went yesterday to get my blood work done for the titers. I also got the TB skin test done and should go back tomorrow(takes 2days). My appointment is July 9th I leave July 11th so hopefully everything will be taken care of the day of my appointment.

Have you all turned in your packet already?

Do I have to turn in the original physical exam form or a copy of it?

I am so nervous the deadline is soon approaching!
