Hi all,
I am starting a tread for all the students that will be applying for spring 2015 ADN program at El Centro. Please join and give any info that you might have. I want to be successful as well as everyone else trying to apply.
Particularly the anatomy part!
Study the elsiever hesi entrance exam study guide. Really for the anatomy and physio part there is no specific parts to study its what ever questions they want to put on there really. Just study basics know what key med term words mean it will be easier for you. There were questions about dorsal, transverse, and other key terms can't remember but the study guide is a good structural place to start for the hesi. I rented it on amazon and just shuffled through it and some things stuck so if you really study it, you will do fine!
I applied at for fall 2014 but got denied I wasn't aware of all the points basically. I have a 3.60 in the prerequisite all of the core classes done with a but Hesi did bad 79 and four of the one point each classes done I'm hoping to apply again for spring 2015 I'm retaking the h e s i on June 23 and have taken 3 more one point each classes so I would be a total of 7 if one more of my classes transfer it would be 8 and basically she told me I needed to make a 96 to get in.... anyone taken the test recently have any advice or tips or know what they did wrong in I heard it's te same test you take someone told me same questions but I don't know I just want to know what to focus on last minute crammingThanks!
...there are two different test, A and B. If you took the HESI once, and signed up to take it again, the test will not be the same, you will take the form B, different questions...
You did great(for no studying)!!! And with that many points it sounds like you're in!!! They will have your transcript already if you took classes at DCCCD!!
...not sure when the deadline is, but if you have time, review the material on the Evolve website (it tells you what type of questions you missed, and it provides material for review), and take it again. Regardless of how many support/BSN classes you already have, the HESI score is the "tie breaker"...

Thank you for your advice, I would love to retake it again I just do not think I have the time to do it. I also have two classes I am currently taking they finish July 3rd. I will see if I can get any in until the 15th of July deadline.

...you are welcome, in my opinion, I think you have plenty of time between 03 July and 15 July to take one or two more tests to improve your score...again, just my opinion, I would try to do whatever it takes to improve my score, even if it is just a point or two...good luck...
Okay so I need some advice from y'all
So I am taking CHEM1411 online right now and it is killer. So fast paced, difficult and I am a little behind. I have never dropped a class before but I am seriously considering it. If I drop it I will have 31 points for my spring app. If I stay in it by GPA is definitely going to drop. I spent so much money on the class because I had to buy an at home lab kit ($200!!!) and I feel like if I drop I am throwing all that cash away, including sacrificing a point on my application. Any advice? I'd highly appreciate it coming from other students who know how it is. I'm so stumped.

Woah that's a lot for that kit!!! If I were in your shoes....if my GPA is awesome I wouldn't want to mess that up!! If I can still withdraw from chem without it affecting my GPA then I would withdraw(not drop bc then that's a F)!! At least I have my lab kit to reuse when I do decide to retake chem(bc it is a required class towards a BSN for UTA) so it wouldn't be a total waste of $$!!! If I think i can pass with a C(min to receive that 1 point on the app) and that C will not drastically effect my GPA then I would tough it out and get my C(if it's too late to withdraw) But from past threads, min point was 27 then last application period it was 28pts(HESI cumulative 430)!! 31pts WITHOUT chem is still pretty high!! I would take my chances and apply with those 31pts keep my awesome looking GPA and also apply to other programs!!
Good Luck with your decision!! =)

I tried to take that same class, lol, I dropped. What was I thinking trying to take CHEM online? So kudos to you for sticking through it so far.
If your focus is getting into the nursing program as soon as you can, I'd say tough it out and even if you just barely pass, you will still get that extra point. That extra point that you have can be comforting to know while you are waiting for your acceptance letter.
For me, I honestly didn't try so hard when trying to get any extra BSN classes done, that probably doesn't sound great. I was after just getting extra points. I really put minimal effort in them, saving all my energy for nursing school. If you have done really well in your classes so far, one bad grade may not affect your GPA as much as you think. Also, if you think dropping a class looks bad on your transcript, don't worry about, I have dropped a ton of classes (I am also exempt to the 6 limit dropping rule) but I was able to make it in to the program. Good luck to you, you will make the right decision whichever way you decide to go.
