El Centro Spring 2015

Hi all,

I am starting a tread for all the students that will be applying for spring 2015 ADN program at El Centro. Please join and give any info that you might have. I want to be successful as well as everyone else trying to apply.

I am planning on applying for 2015. But after reading this i am a bit confused. I will be taking HESI A2 on 06/09 so i don't have my score for that yet (hoping to do good). i have taken HPRS 1204 but not 1202 so i only have 2 points there. My prereq gpa is a 3.3 giving me 4 points. My next question is what are support classes? i haven't figures out how many points because of that. unfortunately i havent taken alot of the courses toward the BSN. i only have 3 points in that. Also i didn't know anything about a cutoff score? i didn't read anywhere on the application that there was a minimum point score. if someone could directly to where it says, i would appreciate it.

I am taking the Hesi on June 9th as well. What have you used to study?

no formulas at all. :/ Everything that is in the Elsevier book for math is on the test. But mostly measurement conversions. I got alot of same voc words. A&P was my weakest score, the book does not have info info. Good luck, i retake my Aug 8

A&P is sooooooooooo random!!!!

I have not been able to study for the Hesi I take it monday. I just finished a Maymester class and have two Summer 1 classes. Any studying tips to cram? What should I refresh on? Where there Roman numerals or Temp/Meters/liquid conversions? Do they give you formulas for anything? Is A&P over bones, muscles or over processes like the heart flow to the body? Which test does not have multiple choice questions?

Thank you for the information. I am trying so hard to finish everything that is due this week for my summer class and that is a lot. I will probably only be able to study over the weekend 2 days and the exam morning. I rented the the Elsevier Hesi entrance exam on Amazon so hopefully that helps. I took fast track A&P so most of what I learned I already forgot on that subject but I am pretty good at the process of elimination in exams. Quick question. Every titter/immunization on the Physical exam covers all the immunizations we need?

But, it was my first time applying and most people I've talked to have said that you have a better chance a second time around so we'll see! I am registering to retake my HESI in a few weeks. What study guide do ya'll recommend?

I used the Elsevier Hesi Entrance exam book 3rd edition!! But I also used Quizlet for the vocab!! The first time I took the HESI I studying all vocab in that book!! Had all the words memorized and only like 2-3 words were on the exam but this last time(2weeks ago) the words from the book were on the exam!! And because the exam is randomized who knows which words will be there!! I freshened up my math with the book but you should memorized conversions!! GOOD LUCK!!

You should definitely check the nursing information packet!! There is a sheet that tells you what the admission requirements are and a ranking sheet!! If you look at the ranking sheet you will see which classes are support courses and which are toward the BSN!! As far as the cutoff it's different for each application period, the cutoff can't be determined until after the deadline and everyone's application has been looked at!! So for the Fall entrance the cutoff was 28pts with a Cumulative HESI score of 430!! So we won't know the cutoff for the Spring entrance until we get our acceptance or denial letters!!! OK so this is where I currently am at. I started off with micro, stat and engl 1302 this spring big mistake for me. I had to let one class go and it was micro. I am currently taken Engl lit for maymester (working my skin off my phalanges here tons of work). Found out late that they had switched the deadline of August 31 to July 15th (my fault for not keeping up)so I scrambled to sign up for hesi a2 at el centro and all the spots were taken. Thankfully a lovely person helped me through their 5test email and got me a spot on hidden date that is not available to the public. So if you are having trouble like me email DO NOT CALL nobody answered I left a detailed message and still nobody called back sadly(might work for you). So summer 1 I am taking Tech writing and College math. I recently got my Health provider BLS Cpr card.

The only classes I need to take after summer 1 is Micro and chem. I plan to take Chem this fall at NLC with Pat Thompson heard she is good. I am going to take Micro next summer with Serra at NLC I had dropped out of her class when she added a presentation to her already rigorous class. I was already inundated with my other two classes.

Not 100% sure but I don't think we take classes for the nursing program during summer so i plan to take micro summer 2015. I would not want to take it in the Nursing program second semester(YIKES!).

So once summer 1 is over and I hopefully pass College algebra and tech writing I should have 26 points (hope its enough) before the Hesi a2 exam. All I'm missing from the packet is the Physical exam, Titters or immunizations and the Hesi a2. I hope I pass the hesi if I don't i do not know if i will be able to get another chance at taking the hesi before the deadline.

The physical exam forms they talk about in the packet, are those given to us so our physician can fill them out or are the forms the physicians provide OK?

Hi, do you know who we have to email for the hidden HESI dates....I am also looking to apply for Spring 2015, I have a date scheduled but I am wondering if maybe there are more hidden dates!!!

Ok Ya'll so I took the much dredded Hesi A2 today. Not happy with the scores but I'll take them. I got a cumulative of 84. I did NOT study. I had the entrance exam book but I casually looked it over. I have two summer classes so I do not think I want to reapply for the the Hesi.

I will apply with 32pts when I finish my summer classes. All I need is the physical and Immunizations. Its been real crazy to get to this point I never thought I would make it. I'm EXCITED AND GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
