Yang & Jaxia we were told one day during our lecture that we will not have a lecture for 3rd semester. We will have an optional lecture day that will consist of two hours where students can ask questions pertaining to material being covered---
We were also told that ECC would have a lecturer, but there would be no room for NLC students to attend.... From that I take it that they knew all along about there being no room...they just didn't mention that they didn't even have room for their own students there!
OK, not trying to fuel anything, but just sharing info given to us back in November.
I'm still not sure if I am in or not...I was told that we would be registered on the 10th if we got in. Sooooo....cross your fingers for me everyone!
In the mean time I'm searching for a PCA job in the metroplex.
Thanks for the info, Spill. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
So, it sounds like basically, we might only have to go to NL for our lecture tests?
Were the IV seminars and stuff at NL with the ECC students, or did they have their own seminars?
I feel sorry if anyone failed 3rd semester -- it doesn't look like they'd have a good chance of getting back in.
We went to NLC for the clinical orientation with the instructor, IV seminar, Trach seminar, tests, optional test reviews, optional 2 hour weekly lecture reviews, and the 3rd semester psych orientation at NLC.
We went to ECC for the psych test review, and the 4th semester psych orientation.
There were some that didn't make it from NLC, but not sure how many.
Ah, thanks. So most things will be at Northlake. Fun, on your schedule for 3rd semester, did it say anything special to let you know it was an online class, or did the time and room number look normal?
I believe they told Spill that it was online, but with the way things change, I could use some confirmation that it is still online!
Does anyone know what the 1st semester skills pack consist of, I took the HPRS 1204 class and we had to purchase a skills pack and I was wondering if it is the same thing.
I would absolutely NOT buy the skills pack! I spent $50+ and only used a tongue dispenser - what a joke. The instructor will tell you what supplies you will need before the labs...so when that time comes just run to Walgreens and get what you need. I will also NOT buy the book box this semester, another waste of money. I never used the books for test studying...only handouts and internet, meds pub, Fundamentals (red book-not in the ECC book box: go to Amazon)...and still ended up with an 86 average in lecture.
Just my 2 cents!
So, they do not give you a reading list, no blueprint, no lectures to attend or watch, and expect you to do well???? They must truly be a bunch of fools there....But those of you who were in 3rd at NLC last semester, did you guys have online lectures? If they can't lecture to us, why can't they record lectures and let us watch them online?

I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me with...

Last semester it felt like we were expected to do graduate level studies. I mean do you own research, get little guidance from instructors, etc. Anyhow, it can be done and I know that you can rock it.

I put all the 'sound bytes' on my PDA, and listened to them in the car.
I think I get more out of reading over and over, but it's good to hear the lectures over and over when I'm driving and can't read. (Well...they say I'm not suppose to read while driving.....LOL)
