congratulations!
i'm starting my final semester and i can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. speaking of tunnell, lol. don't worry.
looking back, i would have to say that she was difficult, but mostly if you are prepared and act confident, even if you aren't right then and there, you will get along with her just fine. she expects you to know what you are doing, so be prepared, read your text, learn your vocabulary! (she quizzes you, but won't tell you that)
mrs. tunnell really prepares you for the clinical setting. some days she is a little bi polar :scrm:, but just
grin and bear it that is the motto of el centro anyways
you will survive, many have had her and are now nurses or about to be

thank you for opening this group for spring 2009. i go to north lake college. what about you?
have you got all the supplies for school? i think the books are outrageous. i wonder if we have time to read all of the books...
I'll be at North Lake too. Yeah, the books were outrageous! Haven't bought much else...though my husband did put together a beautiful office for me. Are either of you doing anything to prepare? I've started reading a little but I have no clue what to expect. Just anxious for next week! Did either of you get caught up in the mess last week with having one day to pay?
I was one of the people who got dropped and then had a day to pay for it all!! Crazy!! But i had to do it! Am El centro though and i have Baylor speciality Dallas for clinicals. I dont even know what to read so i have been mostly checking out ecampus because theres so much on there!!
yeh, we are only given one day to pay for the tuition! i paid for mine a day after the due date and the money has been posted to my bank acct. but i am not sure i got dropped or not. how do i find out if those classes have been dropped?
i dont understand why we can't register for ourselves like other non-nursing majors...

well to see if you are registered just log onto econnect and click on my class schedule, from the drop down menu click on spring 09. i think that shows you are registered!!
i can see the classes on econnect (my class schedule). however, when i went to ecampus, i did not see any class listed there and it said " you are not enrolled in any classes". do you have any class on your ecampus?

as a north lake student entering into her final semester (woot!), i can honestly tell you that the book packs are a complete waste of money! there are only two books that i ever needed from the required text list. the first is your potter & perry fundamentals and the second is your iggy med-surg. if you have oodles of money just sitting about, sure, go ahead and get the boxes. but, if you're like me, broke, just get the two. in fact, you really only need potter & perry for first semester and iggy for second. i also skipped getting the lowdermilk and wong books for second semester (women's health and peds). finally, there's a psych book that's required for third and fourth semester that, again, i never purchased. get yourself a good, care plan book and, as your curriculum dictates, invest in some of the straight a's or other brand of study guide.
good luck to all the new students. take a deep breath and calmly tell yourself that you'll do fine, because you will!

thank you for information on the books. i was shocked when i learned that we had 10+ books that cost a fortune. my sister in ca who is a rn told me that she had never bought a book in nursing school and survived.
congrats on your last semester of study. you must be thrilled. when will you start job hunting?
meatball, have you found out if you're registered? You would've gotten an e-mail if they dropped you. But log in to econnect, and click on "my schedule". Also, don't forget to print your receipt. I think we'll need it either at orientation or the first day of lecture.
