Although I feel frivolous lawsuits are a waste of time and resources and health information is available to the public about eating a proper diet I feel there are occassions where restaurants should be held accountable e.g A fast food establishment claims their fries are perfect vegeterian fare despite frying them in beef tallow.

Measures known as "cheeseburger bills" bar people from seeking damages in court from food companies for weight gain and associated medical conditions, including heart disease and diabetes.

To the OP, frankly I am tired of all your posts about obesity. Do you not have an opinion about anything else nursing related. How about non-nursing related. I agree that this is a real concern for the health care industry but I think you may be a little obsessed.......

Don't forget about what happened with Healthy Choice frozen foods - what was it, about 8 years ago? They were making false claims about their products. When some of their meals were analyzed, they contained more than twice the number of calories and up to 5x the number of fat grams that were indicated in the Nutrition Information on the box. When companies lie to consumers to try to make a quick buck - they should get their pants sued off!

Wow, I'm glad I never ate many of those "Healthy Choice" dinners--tried them years ago, and they tasted like cr*p to me! And they still do, in my opinion! It's there crumby "glazes" they coat everything with--you can't just pour a bunch of aspirtame-filled oranged flavored coating on a piece of chicken and expect that to make it taste good. Or even edible.

Eh...they weren't bad for what they were - blocks of ice, that used to be almost food, that you pull out of the freezer and nuke for 3 minutes or so. Their chicken fettuccine alfredo is on the border of being edible, especially at 2am when the cafeteria is closed and you are just getting your break. Nowadays, I just keep cereal in my locker at work for those nights. If there's a carton of milk in the fridge - great. If not, dry cereal works too.

Anyone every tried Smart Beat cheese? First time i ate that (in '93) was on a grilled cheese, the bread was burnt, and the cheese never did melt. Not to mention the wrapper would have been more tasty.

man, if i hear one more "overweight" (whatever happened to just plain old fat? is that not pc anymore?) person crying about the big bad guy with red hair who held them by the throat and stuffed chicken nuggets down them until they were 400 pounds i think i'm gonna poke my eyeballs out with a filter needle!!!!!!!!! if you don't like the number on the scale, fix some fresh veggies at home and get off your dead orifice an move around a little..............if you need a version that is a little less sugar coated let me know.......

there are already healthier choices available at fast food establishments. If you need something quick grab a salad and nix the dressing (cut out most of the fat and 1/2 the cals this way) drink water or diet soda. Mcdonalds carries yogurt now and wendys will allow you to get a side salad or chili instead of fries, they also carry light 5 cal lemonade and mandarin oranges for the kids meals. If you must have a burger toss the top bun and don't have mayo then you are only at about 300 cals. if you are at taco bell get a chicken soft taco. Only lettuce a little bit of shredded cheddar and chicken in a small tortilla. If you must eat on the go there are options to make it a bit healthier, you just have to make the decision to choose them.

IF a fast food establishment claims their food is the most nutritious or healthy and it is obviously not the case and people are eating their under that false pretense, than that is an entirely different situation.

 I've never seen any fast food restaurant claim to have food that is "the most nutritious or healthy." Besides, if it is "obviously not the case" then how can people be eating there "under that false pretense?"
