East Coast Winter Storm

Published

Just wondering how many of you are getting hit with this east coast storm? How many inches have you gotten so far???

sigh N. Va totally shuts down when they see a snow flake.....southerners.....volunteer driver picked me up ...worked till i needed sleep...slept and did it all over again....back home now...going to make peace with my bed....

We would just like some staedy rain - got the fright of my life heading home from work an hour ago - the helitankers (3) were flying over my area - 60 Heactares of hill went up near where we live

Actually - when l travelled overseas l really loved it when it snowed - guess its cause its is such a novelty for most Aussie - so keep your toes warm and your homes happy.

JUst send us a little water our way

Had 2 feet here in Virginia. Starting sleeting Friday night, changed to snow Saturday morning, and finished Tuesday morning. Finally got the car dug out. I don't think the piles of snow will be gone until April. Fortunately, I had plenty of food and such. Being an agency nurse, the past few days were a loss. Oh, well. Comes with the territory.

Where I live, only 13 inches of very light snow....but I was stuck at work at the time of the storm, which is 30 miles north of where I live in New England, and THAT city got 21 inches! I had to stay over night, and my car was completely buried.......just a big white bump in the parking lot. I have to admit that the snowplows did a pretty good job though, at least on the highways and in the town where I live. I'm pretty impressed.

Man what a dig-out!! I owunderstad whytheschoolswereclosed on Tuesday too, they couldn't get the school buses out of the lot. I had to geta drug test for my new job yesterday, and saw the struggle anyone who doesn't have a driveway, and had to park on the street was in for.

The snow is always pretty, but the digging out sucks. NO garbage pick-up, no mail, it really has an amazing ripple effect.

We got 28" where I live in PA - schools are closed AGAIN! The children haven't been to school since last Thursday and are driving me NUTS ;)

We made it to Atlantic City before the storm hit, probably 3ft or so there, it was weird to see snow drifts on the beach and a total white out, oh well, back to the blackjack table. Not such a bad place to be snowed in.

I never thought I would have such a back ache... I shoveled and shoveled some more... My father-n-law saved the day by finding a guy up here on the mountain that has a tractor with a front end loader and scaper... He went through our long driveway like it was nothing.... You ought to see the pile of snow, it will take months for it to melt.. but anyway, I am FREE!!!!!! (but I still might stay home)... School is closed today for the third day.. The side streets are still a mess but the main roads are okay...

Julie, your pics are the most impressive so far! WOW!!!

Love that signature line too! LOL!

I do home health and it has been a challenge to get to people. We have to park wherever we can and hike to the home. My longest walk today was 2 city blocks. Many dug out parking spaces have lawn chairs in them, and I heard last year in Philly someone was killed over moving someone's chair, so I am leaving them alone. I know if I had to work that hard ton dig out my car I'd be pizzed if someone took my spot too!!! Other nurses hadf to park in driveways of neighbors, and some pt's just couldn't be seen, some streets still have not been plowed at all. Hopefully we'll get to them by the end of the week!

Here in Utah, we have NOTHING! AHHHH! Two feet or more is normal here in the winter but it is currently sunny skies in the upper 60's. I am going to keel over if we don't get some soon!

Just as a side note: We don't even consider closing anything down until we get at least 3 feet. I'll never get a snow day!

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing uncontrollably.....not at all of you poor souls that aren't used to the snow and don't have the resources to take care of it, but my co-worker was just on the phone with someone from NYC telling them that we only got 12 inches of it here in Syracuse, NY!!!! Unfortunately, we've had so much 12 inches is only a mere inconvenience!! Is that sad or what?!

I was snowed in all weekend at my boyfriends house and their computer connection sucks! AHHH! So I was without internet for so long. My eyes needed the break anyways ...

At the jersey shore (south, Ocean City area) there was alot of snow, but then monday morn (early) it turned to rain and sleet and the snow started to disspate. Then only to turn to ice and be impossible to drive on side streets.

When I got home yesterday afternoon (still in south jersey, but right outside philly)... to my surprise the mounds of snow in front of my house that my brother and parents had shoveled ... I wish I had the time to play in it ...

20 inches of snow sounds fun. Plus I was iceskating on my driveway this morning trying to get to work ...
