Does anyone work (or have worked) at Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center? I can find out about the town/community, but I want to know about the hospital. Can anybody help?

I spoke with Fort Duncan Regional in Eagle Pass today. I have phone interview tomorrow. They said will pay for face to face interview. Offer 20000 bonus for day and 24000 bonus for night. Dont know hourly rates or benefits yet. She said up to 4500 for relocation. I just dont know....

They had me until they said I had to pay for my ticket, rental car and hotel and they would reinburse me only if I accepted the position? So be sure they made u an offer and all before u go so you will know what ur getting yourself into. Goodluck!

Wow, I am glad you told me! What if I go and I want the position, but they dont want me-I guess I would be stuck paying the bill!! I will still do the phone interview and see from there, I guess

The hospital in eagle pass, texas has been offering bonus for years. I wonder what is wrong with hospital?

Not trying to be mean spirited but the primary thing wrong with the hospital is the location. Eagle Pass is really not a pleasant place to live or to work. Yes there are worse places to live and/or work in I suppose but it really is not a desirable environment overall.

I wonder if taking a job like this, would be good just to get the experience. If so, I would definitely look into it.

Well, I guess I will find out because I will be going there this month-unless someone else calls me here!

@ Mom35 Please come back and update us on your experience and your thoughts about Fort Ducan in Eagle Pass. And goodluck! You may convince me to come down there;)

Is it considered a dangerous city because of its close proximity to the border?

Eagle Pass is right on the border so that conveys the idea of risk. I don't know if it's any more dangerous than other places. I just don't have concrete knowledge of their crime rate. The biggest drawback, I think, is that once you get outside the immediate area of Eagle Pass, you're a looong way from anything else.

It looks like it's a lot safer than Dallas, that's for sure! Check out this document: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/crimereports/10/citCh10.pdf. For what it's worth - my brother-in-law moved to the D/FW suburbs after living and working in the McAllen/Harlingen area, which is deep, deep south, at the very ending tip of Texas, near Matamoros, Mexico; and had his choice of jobs when he came here.

I just moved to Eagle Pass yesterday to work as a new grad at Fort Duncan Regional, my first job as an RN. After six months of applying in DFW, my hometown, after graduating in May and fruitless searching I took this offer. So far, the place is nice. Yes it is small, but there is walmart, a mall, and restaraunts and everyone I have met is very kind. I start work on Thursday. I have a two bedroom apartment for 675 per month and it is pretty nice, well I have never lived in an apartment to compare it with, but it is nice and quiet. Now maybe if you have lived in an affluent area which I have not, this place is just fine so far! So I plan to get two years here and then apply back at Parkland, because my family and friends are all in DFW. I will keep postings on how the hospital is.
