  1. Those were my thoughts and feelings about the situation. Human resources emailed me a week after the verbal offer was made instructing me to set up a time to come in and finish the paperwork required. I have attempted to make contact on several occasions without success. My friend suggested that i be more aggressive, but I have never experienced a situation like this, I believe im where I should be continuing to learn, build and grow into my ideal nursing position. Thanks
  2. Um.....really? What is this highschool? I bet you were just waiting all day to be a technical ***** huh? Anyway @klone i was made an offer over the phone. The interview was over two weeks ago.
  3. I recently excepted an Adon position, but have not heard back from them? I have called and emailed no response? At first I thought they are just busy but now im thinking no it may be something else? Am I wrong for feeling this way?
  4. According to the DON she doesn't have a problem hiring those with little to no experience, she says she enjoys giving others a foot in the door. I have three offers on the table the ADON position, LTACH staff position, and a part time Ltc position
  5. Falls - interventions in place, documentation for at least 72 hours? Event notes complete Decubs - measure weekly, document thoroughly. Insulin Errors - biggie Coumadin Errors -biggie Restraints Antipsychotics Infection trends - enough equipment on hand in case isolation required. Ancillary staff knowledgeable regarding donning ppe Hospital readmissions esp MI, Pneumonia and CHF Medication errors Recerts done in a timely manner - nightmare for me. Set up a spreadsheet for recert times. Family issues Employee issues Inservices up-to-date? TBs up-to-date Licenses up-to-date One I am having serious problems with is wound identification on admission with a TREATMENT IN PLACE from day 1. Mine think the "next shift can do it". Remember, if it is not found in 24 hours, it is YOUR WOUND. Monitor the dining room. Are the residents actually being fed? Check their plates. Be sure meal documentation is being entered. BAD, BAD, BAD if it is not recorded when there is weight-loss involved. Are residents being turned. Heels floated? Enough staff to cover shifts? Check for yourself. Many times the staffing coordinator thinks the shift is covered when in fact, it is not. OMG and don't forget to make sure your QA meetings are up-to-date. Many times it is difficult to get the medical director in the bldg. Nag, nag, nag and document when you called if they are reluctant to come. I got this list of things to monitor from another post on here by geriatricRNBSN hope this helps somewhat :)
  6. I am unsure of an appropriate rate of pay, but what I do know is they will offer you the lower range and will tell you that you have no experience in the position. Once you gain experience then you will have more bargaining power. Good luck with the position and I hope they offer you a rate that is good for your financial needs.
  7. Thanks for whatever reason my friend has told me she doesnt think I should take the ADON postition because of the high level of stress (may make me jump ship) me personally I know I dont want to be at the bedside to much longer and would like to try my hand in management/ administrative side of things to see if it is for me? My major concern about the facility is it is small, under new ownership, and im wondering if i will get the boo boo side of the stick or will they genuwinely give me all the tools/training needed to be successful?
  8. @nightengalegoddess can you come back and update us on what happened with the Adon position you took? I recently have been offered two jobs one as an ADON and the other as a staff member of and LTACH and I cant seem to make up my mind on which one to take. Any guidance would be appreciated, thanks
  9. No tips for how to care for the patient with little to no help, but you should suggest to whom ever is assigning pt's that she is a lot of work and see if it would be possible to rotate her with staff to give your body healing time and to ensure that no one staff memeber injures themselves in the process of caring for her.
  10. I have also had a hard time dealing with nursing politics and attitudes that have caused me to second guess myself. I found myself wanting to be spoon fed just to be liked or fit in because I thought if the nurses think I need them it would sooth their egos and I could go about my shift in peace. (NOT) Trail and error and plenty of jobs inbetween I have learned that many of my over confident co workers are or have been just as unsure as me. They use the fake it until you make it, they make what they are telling you sound believable, (even when you and I know better) They also just know when not to admit to their vulnerabilities some are nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Just know that over time (if they allow you to continue to work there) you too will become more confident with your own decision making process and you will care less and less about who said what about you. Just hang in there : )
  11. I love patient care. I feel my co workers can miss me with all of the superficial nursing politics that have no effect on patient care period. With that being said I tend to leave great companies due to unfavorable managers, supervisors etc.... anyway nursing can be a small world. I want to work full time and have some stability in my nursing career as I get older. I dont have a bachelors degree and will be headed back to school just to stay employed and be employable in the future. I have gotten three job offers. I have been offered an assistant don position with a starter company that has been improving at least on paper..... I have also been offered a staff position at a Ltach with an established company. I am torn between which job to except. Fear is really what's holding me back from the adon position, I cant really say what i expect from the position other than it will get my foot in the door of the administration side of nursing. The other will just be enhancing my bedside skills and sharpening my critical thinking skills.....idk? I hope im not offending anyone. Just thought I would post to see what you stable nursese thought........
  12. I was offered 28.25 at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville Indiana for the med surg unit.
  13. I just interviewed for my first travel assignment and was offered the position but things arent lining up it has been one problem after the other ive recently explained this to my recruiter and now he is guilting me into taking the position saying how hard hes worked to get me the interview but i dont want to mess up my very first one
  14. a recruiter over at parallon told me in florida base pay is 27.00 an hour and 600.00 a week tax free take home pay.........
