Hello everyone,
I decided to start a thread for the Duke University Hospital residency program.
I'm also looking for some advice as well. I'm not 100% sure of the application process, (maybe I'm thinking about other program I've applied to) but I remember being able select our 1st and 2nd choice. I'm pretty sure if this is the case that I selected pediatrics.
Well I just received an email form Duke to interview for the Clinical Transport Team. I'm thrilled to have gotten an interview, but does this mean my application was never forwarded to my choices?
Is anyone else in the same boat?
How did interviews go for everyone who had one last week? I had mine and felt good about it, but couldn't tell if they felt the same. I found it a little difficult to ask all the questions I wanted to during the shadowing since the nurse I was with was really busy with medications and everything and I didn't want to distract her/create errors (hope they are understanding of that), but overall it was great. My interview was around maybe 30 minutes long. They told me it should be around 2 weeks before I hear either way. Hoping it will be earlier though!
Mine went great, the manager explained the moral of the unit and other specifics. She only asked a handful of questions. The shadow went well, but the nurse and I traveled with the patient so I was not on the unit the whole time. The nurse did take the time to explain everything to me and was really passionate about his job. Will find out within two weeks! Good Luck to everyone! :)
I'm glad your interview went well! Mine's coming up in the first week of April for the Neurosurgery ICU. My recruiter said the interview is behavioral-based and that I would be asked questions relating to the core values of Duke. Is that what your guys' interviews were like? I'm just trying to think of what kinds of questions they would ask about the core values. Any insight would be appreciated!!
Well good luck! :) mine was behavioral based. The manager was asking questions about how I reacted in a situation (ex. what frustrates me, when have I felt overwhelm, etc). I just explained what had happened and tried to tie the core values in. Ex. Diversity with non English speaking patients and respecting their background.
Hi everyone! I interviewed with the Clinical Transport Team at Duke this past Monday( 3/24). The nurse recruiter told me it would take about 2-3 weeks to get back to me. I am dying over here! I think it went well but I keep going over what I could have said instead in my head. Although, I suppose everyone does that after an interview. Let me know if anyone hears anything and I will do the same! Good luck to those whose interviews are coming up. My best advice is just to be yourself. I actually had a great time!
Thanks Bos12!! I actually had a great time at the interview! I absolutely love the hospital and the whole dynamic of the unit I interviewed for. Everyone seems really supportive! I have a good feeling about it, but at the same time I feel I could've changed a couple things. :/ Good luck to everyone!!
So I was wondering how those of you who already interviewed sent thank you notes afterward? Did you give them in person or did you send them to the hospital's address and just designate which unit you wanted it sent to? This is my first real hospital interview, so I'm not entirely sure how this all works... Thanks in advance!!

I also just received a interview and shadow experience for the MICU next week. I am so nervous does anyone know how many new grads are interviewed and how many get hired?
