Duke MSN 2018

Published

Hello everyone! The topic is for those, who submitted their applications to Duke MSN Program Fall 2018.

I am current Duke MSN-DNP applicant for Fall 2018. I would like other Duke applicants to joint this discussion and share their strong points in their applications, and, of course, cheer up each other in this time consuming process.

FNPdreaming, I can't private message here, but requested to join the Facebook group. I'll be in the MSN-WHNP program. Excited to meet everyone!

I got the same email. It WAS pretty disappointing. I am still anxiously awaiting DNP decisions. I was looking through the thread and you were the only one I could find that was AGNP-PC. Are you planning on coming to DUSON on March 30? Have you decided about the other schools yet?

I'm so glad I found this thread I also was accepted to the WHNP program and I'm beyond excited to get started! I'm guessing I may see some of you Friday!

I sent a request for the Facebook group. Great idea!

Congrats to everyone that got accepted! I also got my Duke acceptance for the BSN to DNP FNP program! Just wondering if anyone else like me who's in the fence of accepting their decisions? Aghhhh.

I was on the fence, now I've decided to attend UNCC this fall. There were two things that took me all the way over to the other side - first Duke is now part time and you cannot change the matriculation plan - I can't spend 3 years getting an MSN degree; second, my financial aid award letter had grad plus loans "offered"- I refuse to take out private loans for this. I would have LOVED to attend DUKE- but I can't. :-(

Whoa, what do you mean they changed the plan? Do you know how this affects the BSN - DNP program?I wonder how many semesters it would take for us to complete their program!

Yes- I am so glad I went to Experiebce DUSON DAY. Otherwise I don't when they would have shown the new matriculation plan. And throughout the day several people asked if it was full time or part time- and they faculty never gave a straight answer - they kept saying that you could work full time and do the program at the same time. And then after we were dismissed they told us that we could take a picture of the new matriculation plans which would be set up on screens in the next room. I only took a picture of my program AG Acute Care. I can't speak for the other programs. But it was a full 3 years and I got accepted into the BSN-DNP too- I can't imagine how much longer that would take.

Thank you so much Carly! It's all good, I'm thinking it's around the same time which is a full 3 years for Family as well. You ready to take out loans? LOLOL. I wonder if maybe they know that the students work full-time & want to make the program suited to the majority of the students. I didn't attend DUSON due to work, but I'm thankful for this info!

you are right about them changing it to fit most students needs- they continually said throughout the day that they "moved things around" so students could work full time

LOANS!! Lololololol

That's why I decided to go to UNCC- $240/credit hour. Like I said earlier not doing private loans. But at any rate - I'm really happy for everyone that got in and will be able to matriculate this fall at DUKE

Wait, what? I wasn't able to attend experience DUSON day - the program is now only offered part time?

Yes, however I can only speak for the adult acute care track because that is the only matriculation I looked at but a lot of other people had the same reaction I did-
