Duke ABSN Fall 2021

Hi everyone!

I read through posts from previous DUSON ABSN cycles while completing my application and they were very helpful, but I noticed there were no new posts for the current application cycle, so I thought I'd start one.

Just submitted my application and am super nervous!

Anyone else here apply? Let's be antsy together! ?

Thanks for your reply, byunowho ?  That's good to hear.  If that did happen, I guess I'm just worried about Duke potentially finding out and then rescinding my acceptance.  Sounds crazy, I know, but I've heard of that happening with undergrad!

Wow!  I've never heard of that.  It's common for applicants to put money down on more than one school.  I started a FB page for students accepted into one of the schools I got into, and the majority of them are undecided between schools and yet put their money down so they have time to think about their decision or just in case their top choice doesn't accept them.  If it makes you feel more at ease, just don't tell anyone where you put your money down.  ?

Hi!! yes, totally okay to submit the deposit to another school you've been accepted to before hearing from Duke. I submitted my deposit to Johns Hopkins because the deadline was Friday and I still haven't heard back from any other school. Where I end up going largely depends on scholarships and financial aid, so if I get a better offer from another school, I will likely go there instead! The only problem would be losing the deposit, but I think it's worth it if you have the means!

Hi, Amanda12!  I declined my seat at Johns Hopkins on Friday ? .  I didn't get enough scholarship money from them, and I'm hoping, since Duke has a needs-based scholarship, that the price tag will be easier to swallow!!  Haha!  Are you on the JHUSON FB page?

I hope so. I heard it would be the 1st week of March. But Friday is even better.  Do you know the date last year?

Yeah, it was on February 28. So soon! It would be great if they told us on Friday, but I can wait until next week LOL

Thank you...hoping it's this Friday. Do you know if the scholarships are included in the admission letter or at some other point?

I would think scholarship awards will come with admission decisions since there was an early deadline on the scholarships.  That's how they did it at the other schools I got acceptance letters from.
