I created a FB page for our cohort, but I wanted to ask if any of you have found one already. I haven't been able to find anything.

No, that scholarship was from JHUSON. Duke hasn't sent out their scholarship decisions yet.

I wasn't expecting to get into JHU either. Or Duke. I just applied to both of those schools on a whim, thinking, "what the heck? Let's see what happens." But I got into both after putting my money down on MUSC. JHUSON offered me two scholarships totaling $35,000 with my acceptance ($10,000 and $25,000). They do not offer needs-based scholarships. I think it might be because their program is a Masters??? So, I'm going with Duke. Good luck! If you can make it work, go for it!!

Thanks for the info. Do you know how much your friends were making as new grads in SoCal? In which cities? Where did they work?

Wow! I miss the beach! I grew up in So Cal and left after starting my family. I know where I'm going as a new grad now. That's amazing!

I love to hear that!! Thank you for sharing. I would not know half of what I do about planning for a nursing career if it weren't for people like you who share this kind of information. As far as the FB pages, do you mean search for the local universities in CA on FB? Or the school itself? That would be a great idea. I heard the highest paying in CA is the bay area. Is that correct? Do you know the new grad rate in San Diego? I wish you the best. I hope you get accepted at JHUSON.

Of course I did. I'm not worried. I'm from there, so I know some areas that are more affordable. I don't plan on living in a million-dollar neighborhood. I'm used to living within my means, practicing frugality. I've thought about all my living arrangement options. Another option is also travel nursing that pays up to $8 and $10 thousand a month, and they now take new grads with only 6 months experience.

For a school that does not offer needs-based, JHUSON gave me $35,000 scholarship right off the bat. But that's not enough for their price tag...not for me. Duke offers more scholarships. Look into HRSA scholarships. My plan as a new grad is to find employment in California where the pay is the highest so I can get my loans paid off fast.

They have daily "Chat and Chew" at noon Eastern time. The links are on their website somewhere. Just Google it. Don't hesitate to call admissions. They are so helpful.
