Hi All,
Just wanted to get a thread going for those who are applying to the Fall 2015 ABSN program. What are some of your degrees in? Is anyone applying to other schools? Also, is anyone planning on moving to North Carolina to attend?
Wow! Very cool to read the backgrounds! I'm impressed!
@barron.ke I have a somewhat less impressive background that'll hopefully be comforting (ha!). I graduated w/my BS in psychology (major) and anthropology (minor) in 2010 with a 3.78 overall.
While in school i worked and volunteered in our schools reproductive health lab., which was essentially helping grad and phd students with their research projects and also a big national midwifery study (my long term goal is to be a CNM).
After graduation I worked at an OB/GYN office doing patient services type things. Then, following a move, worked at a big online retailer for motorcycle gear as a promotions assistant. Since having my first daughter a little over 2 years ago I've been home and working on prereqs for nursing school.
I have A's in all prereqs except dev. Psych (b). I took that while in undergrad.
My letters of rec are varied- one from an MD I worked with, one from a PhDs student I worked with (who is now a professor at a big medical school) and
..let me continue ..
And finally my supervisor when I was a promotions assistant .
My essays- I wrote them over the course of a couple weeks.. I gave them a lot of thought beforehand since the questions asked for specific examples, and self-edited a handful of times. My husband edited one draft but I had no one else read them.
Anyway, hopefully that's a little more reassuring! I'm intimidated by reading other people's experiences but am confident I will do well in this program, good luck to you!!

@FJD13 . I can see your POV.
@Barron.ke. Great idea.
one of my instructors said should you want to put in wanting to do CRNA and NP, it is probably a good idea to check if the school has a program in that field. However, I felt like I took a safer route saying I will pursue graduate studies, but didn't specify. I did research about each school I was going to apply to because my instructor suggested that each school has their own mission statement.
Lastly, different schools have different processes. many state schools use a point system, where grades are everything, but others are holistic.
