Duke ABSN Fall 2015

Hi All,

Just wanted to get a thread going for those who are applying to the Fall 2015 ABSN program. What are some of your degrees in? Is anyone applying to other schools? Also, is anyone planning on moving to North Carolina to attend?

hi guys! I got a private message from someone in this thread but I haven't been on here long enough to respond so I thought I'd respond here. I'm in the Spring 2015 cohort so we're about 9 weeks in. so far so good! we just got done with six weeks of wellness placement clinicals and now we're moving on to the hospital. congrats to all who've been accepted so far - it's a huge accomplishment! let me know if you guys have questions and I'll be happy to answer if I can!

I am really excited about getting in, but i wonder how i will be able to pay the tuition. Really hope a miracle works out for me. Still waiting to hear back from UNC :(.

@Emmysara do you get to choose your clinical placements second semester? Are most at duke university hospital?

Hey emmysara, one question, how are most of your cohort financing your schooling? Is it mostly loans? I realize you may not know this info and that it may not be a topic of discussion. :) thanks for chiming in!

I'm not positive how placement for clinicals works second semester, but I know you can pick your top three choices and there's an awesome lady here who does all of the planning and she tries really hard to put you where you want to be.

as for finances, most of us just took out loans. unfortunately, it's kinda the reality of going to a place like Duke.

@stategrl Did you apply for UNC May cohort? My friend applied as well and I can't believe they haven't told you guys yet! Any tips for applying? I'm pretty sure I'm going to start working on my application essays for Jan matriculation. Good luck!
