  1. I sent Nora an email today about something unrelated to the waitlist and got an automatic reply that she'll be out of the office from the 27th of August (last Thursday) until Sept. 4, which is this Friday. Since she sends out the emails to the accepted people, I would think that maybe the lucky ones will hear this Friday (in the past, decisions have usually been made on Friday). There is also a chance they only pulled one person from the waitlist and they're just not on this forum. Good luck to all!
  2. I was also wondering if most of you guys decided to accept your offers! It seems like the majority of the accepted people really enjoyed Duke Days and what the program had to offer, but I was just wondering if anyone chose a different route.
  3. @mbs213 there is very little info provided about the waitlist. Nora usually says she can't tell you about ranking but will update you if your decision changes via email.
  4. Sounds about right to me. There were a lot of people pulled from the list in the fall and that can't always be expected so they may be only letting a few in for the spring. It may operate under a little different schedule for Spring!
  5. In the past, they usually notify the people on the wait list 1-2 weeks after the people who are accepted choose to accept or decline the decision.
  6. Although we didn't get an email yet, decisions are posted now. I'm on the waitlist! Looking forward to hearing what everyone else hears.
  7. I haven't seen anything about the webinar yet. Maybe they're assuming that they will cover everything in the Duke days this year? Did you get Nora's email this afternoon? I guess that means decisions will be coming soon! I have family in Chapel Hill and have always loved NC. I think they have a really structured program at a reputable hospital and I love how there are a lot of students around to learn from! Med school, PA, nursing, etc. What about you? Why Duke over unc (for now)?
  8. I'm from CT. I was on the waitlist for the fall semester and they offer to roll over your application to the next semester if you're on the waitlist, so that's where I'm at now. I'm grateful that they tell us on the earlier side-- I'm out of the country for 10 days starting the 17th tho, so I'm really hoping to hear before then! Is Duke your #1 choice?
  9. CNAtoNursie I am nervous too! Hoping these weeks will go by quickly. I will apply to other programs closer to home if I am not accepted for the January program since those applications aren't due until November. I'm lucky to have a little wiggle room between due dates but it's scary just applying to one place for now! What about you?
  10. I would say the essays-- they don't do interviews any more so that's the best chance you have to tell them a bit more about yourself and your character!
  11. Good luck with your decision, CafeGypsy! Keep us updated-- sounds like you have great options and can't go wrong!
  12. isingthebodyelectric, have you turned down your offer yet? And to cafegypsy as well, when did you both hear from the office? Thanks guys! Good luck in your decisions and your future endeavors
  13. Every time I hear that someone gets pulled off the waitlist I do get more hopeful for myself-- thanks to everyone who has posted in here because I feel like I have been able to be very "in the loop" in regards to the process, and I am very grateful for that!
  14. Hey, I applied with similar qualifications and i was placed on the wait list. I don't know how much help that is to you, but I would suggest focusing on your essay since there is no interview and on your letters of recommendation. This seems to be how they get to know you as a person, beyond the numbers. I would keep up the volunteering and the direct patient care as a CNA-- maybe work on getting a reference from the charge nurse where you work. I know people said they were much more comfortable in the class after a CNA program, so that's definitely something that will help you stand out. Hope that helps! I was wondering how everyone's decisions were going in regard to the UNC/Duke decision and if anyone has accepted or declined their position yet after being pulled from the waitlist! I know the decision is due Friday-- just wanted to wish everyone good luck and positive vibes!
  15. That's awesome for both of you! Let us know what you decide. I have no update in my application but I am more hopeful knowing that they are least taking some people from the waitlist!
