Duke ABSN Fall 2011

Hi all!

I know its early and the application isn't due until December 1st, but I was wondering if there was anyone else out there applying to the Duke ABSN program to start in August of 2011! I've already read through some of the previous semesters' threads and it seems like a great outlet for discussion/ questions/ nerves!

I don't think not getting the email this morning about the info session for the spring cohort is a bad thing...I think you had to be signed up to get emails from them about the info sessions. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason why some people got emails and some didn't. I highly doubt it's any kind of foreshadowing! They seemed to be pretty tight-lipped about things so I don't think the email this morning would be alluding to anything. So I wouldn't worry about it!

I emailed her asking about the release of acceptance information.

The other email was a generic one if you signed up for the Duke information listserve. Don't take it the wrong way if you didn't get it!

The same thing happened last year with some getting the info session email and some not and it didn't have an impact on who was accepted. So no worries and sadly, your wait for news is still on! :D

I think bananaduck sent out an email- no emails have been sent out from Duke (except for that heart stopping Spring session one earlier this morning!)

I applied for fall 2011.. not a spring cohort.. could that be why?

I think we are all in for the Fall. The email was just information about optional, generic informational sessions. No biggie

I'm certain I want to get my MSN like many of you here. I emailed asking about the process (specifically for acute care) and got the response below. Does this concern anyone else?

"Due to the large enrollment in our MSN Program currently, we are having to make some changes to the pathway option. *Basically, there will be set deadlines as to when an ABSN student can apply to the program. *Then, each specialty will have a set number of spaces for ABSN students. *For Acute Care, they will want you to have experience, but you could obtain this experience while working and taking classes part time. We do have some students who are able to get a job in the ICU right away. *It depends on how many positions are available and where you are wanting to work. *I wouldn't say that everyone who wants to work there gets a job, but there will be some who do.

If you have additional questions, just let me know. *We'll be able to provide more details on this new policy for ABSN-MSN very soon."

I haven't been on here for a while but I thought I'd drop in and say "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"!!! I'm literally trying not to pull my hair out as I wait in anticipation. All I can say is, "come on, Duke." We've waited long enough...
