Drug Tests and Hemp Oil

Now before you get any ideas about me, I am not a drug user. Heck, I can't even take benadryl for my allergies if I want to be aware of my surroundings. I do, however, have a question about the urine drug tests I will be required to take for Nursing School and then for the rest of my life as an RN.

I use Dr Bronner's natural liquid soaps for basic household cleaning, and often do not wear gloves while using it. Hemp oil is one of the first ingredients listed on the label. I also just bought a bar of bath soap from Kiss My Face recently and discovered that it contains hemp oil as well.

Does anybody know if hemp oil will cause a positive urine drug screen? If there is even the slightest chance, I'd rather err on the side of caution.

Thanks in advance for any info you might share!

I know there have been issues with the dietary supplement and positive drug testing, but I am not aware of the cleaning and/or soap items causing this, missjen.

Some websites say that it is impossible for the latter to cause a positive drug test. here is a website discussing that issue: http://www.testpledge.com/bodycare.htm

I know the you.S. is entertaining a zero tolerance law regarding the "minimum limit" allowed (as accepted by canadian law). so, I cannot fully answer this question.

Something to think about, however.

I hope not since I eat hemp cereal and waffles sometimes. Hemp is actually very good for you. I wonder if it is the same as with poppy seeds. I don't think so. Let us know what you find out.

I asked someone who knew more on the subject and got that answer:

doubt it would. hemp contains very very very very very little thc. thats why they are legal to possess and stuff. drug tests look for thc metabolites in urine

I'll let you know if anything else comes up.

Not at all.. They test for chemical compounds in marijauana -Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) not HEMP... You do not have ANYTHING to Worry about..

(I am a probation officer (pre-nursing student) and I worked in the Drug Court Program for 3 years, we had training on drugs all the time.. People ask that all the time...) You are good.. WASH UP...:> and for those who eat hemp cereal- you are fine too...

PS- If you ever come up POS and believe it is from something else.. They can test it even more specifically in a GCMS format... Like for people who Eat way too many Poppy Seed bagels and test Positve for Opiates....

I haven't had a poppy seed bagel (and they were my absolute favorite!) or used my Dr. Bonners soap since I started nursing school for exactly the same fear. I am a happy girl after reading this thread and links. ....... Tomorrows to do list...... buy poppy seed bagels.... life is good:cheers:

I wouldn't worry about it like everyone above posted. I know when I took my UDS they had us write diwn everything that we had took/used in the past month. This included hemp products, vitamins, and poppy seed bagels. No one got called out for anything because we were told it had to be a certain level before they flagged it if you had taken anything that could cause a positive test result.
