Has anyone heard back from Drexel for the fall 2010 class? My husband attended the info session for me a few weeks ago (he works in Philly and I had to work late), and he loved the school. On their website it says you have to have 7 pre-reqs completed prior to applying, but then it says they will not review transcripts until after you are accepted. Does anyone have any info on this?
Just wanted to provide more information about One Franklin Town. I remember looking at prices for 2 bedrooms and they are significantly lower than a one bedroom, I believe somewhere around 700-800 dollars a month. There is a waiting list for the Fall. The application is super easy to fill out and one of the leasing managers told me that they should know at the end of June, beginning of July what apartment would be mine. Also, they said there was a Drexel student discount of $50 a month. The building seemed very quiet and clean. I only looked at one bedroom layouts and they were spacious with lots of storage. Hopefully this information is useful. If I can answer any other questions let me know. Thanks!!
I'm under the impression that most of the decisions did take more than two weeks. It took four weeks for mine. I have a feeling it depends on whether or not your transcripts are coming from the same place or not. Once they have everything they need it is probably just a matter of plugging your qualifications into their formula and determining if you meet their standards. Good things are worth waiting for, hang in there!
hey everyone,
For the Philadelphia area people I just signed up for the AHA BLS for healthcare providers course at the Prospect Park location. There were a ton of dates available and it should take around three hours. The course costs 70 if you have never been certified and i think 55 if its a re-cert. I talked to the lady and she said she sees alot of ACE students and that this is what we need, I hope shes right. Just an FYI i signed up for March 24th 10am-1pm. Hope this helps!
Hey Everyone,
I'm also attending Drexel's Ace program in the fall. I noticed that there are several people that are not from Philadelphia and are searching for housing. I've lived in Philly for the last 10 years and I have lived in almost every part of the city proper, at this point. I would be happy to help people with housing questions. I have a decent amount of knowledge regarding rental prices, safety, and locations of public transportation. Happy house hunting to all that are looking and I look forward to meeting you in the Fall!

To those looking for housing, I'm from the Philly area (moved away 5 years ago, but still visit) and can recommend anywhere in Center City, Graduate Hospital (though still a little sketchy), Queen Village, the neighborhood west of it that I'm completely blanking on even though I used to hang out there! Bella Vista or something, Italian Market area, Art Museum, & University City. Be careful not to go too far north - avoid anything near Temple University - and do not go too far west beyond University City. Also, you could do some NW Philly areas, but they may be a little more difficult to get to without a car (Roxborough, Manayunk, East Falls, etc.). Some areas of South Philly still aren't good, but the ones I've listed are fine. If you want to be in the suburbs, check out towns along the R5 (check SEPTA website) and look into Wynnewood, Merion, Bryn Mawr (very exclusive and somewhat pricey, but lovely). Make sure you're near a train station to get into the city, though. Be within walking distance, since parking's very difficult at these stations. The immediate suburbs along the R5 (Main Line) are absolutely beautiful, but don't go beyond Wayne if possible, since your commute will take longer and it will become less pretty the further west you go. I used to live on the Eastern Main Line and it's beautiful. Of course, there's a lot of wealth, so there's also some attitude.
Oh, and skip the Northeast.
Hope this helps.
