Don't know what to do!!

Published

Today was my first day of classes. I fought to keep my eyes open in every class. On top of that I am stopped up, and sick to my stomach. I really want to complete school and not give up. But it seems that everytime I start school something comes up. I feel so bumbed about everything. I was a sahm and I guess I am use to being with the kids and not going anywhere. I have become comfortable with doing nothing. How can I come out of that shell and perk up?:uhoh21:

I am congested!! I guess I set myself up for that one. I want to thank you all for the great suggestions and I am delighted to know that there are people out there that really care. It is soooo amazing. I just needed motivation. Being comfortable doing one thing for a long period of time and then getting out of that routine can be a lot to deal with. Motorcycle mama, I would trade places with you anyday. My job as a sahm NEVER ENDS. It goes morning, noon, mid-day, evening, nights, mid-night, middle of the night, dusk, dawn, shall I go on?!!! If I can perk up, get over this bug, and stop dragging, I guess I will be ok!!! Thank you all!!!!

Picture this: you get through school, get a job, work three 12 hour shifts, and you still have your wife and mommy responsibilities eau de doo dah day.

Right now I've got a load of clothes in the washer and dryer...I'll be doing clothes until this evening. Washing drying sorting and putting away. Sweeping and mopping. Vacuuming and picking up, stopping only to feed my two month old and steal a little computer time in the process. Cleaning the shower and toilets...I wish I could dust but it's all I can do to get the immediate things done. Then when the other three get home it's like rushing out of the starting gate yet again. Fix supper, help with homework, make sure they ge their baths and go to bed...and tomorrow it starts all over again, only tomorrow night I go to my job. Then I come back home and start all over again.

BTW I thought you needed some Ex-Lax, too.

You will be ok! I'm sure you will do a great job.

lol school makes me sick to my stomach and clogs me up. i dont want to go to school but i just think of the future and that motivates me to go to school from 0800 - 1830 monday-friday. i suggest you get some pepto for your sick stomach, coffee/energy drinks for keeping your eyes open, day dream when you have time for motivation, and meet some people who have similar goals as you for fun. just keep going along with it and you'll eventually get there.

I hear ya motorcycle. I have those duties as well. My husband is on the road now. That jive turkey took a job as a truckdriver. I love him for all that he is doing and the fact that I don't have to work and put up with school, home and chores is wonderful. I just don't get a break now that he is gone. Everyday is getting better and better. Everyone just continue to pray for me and I will pray for everyone on the go as well!!;) I am taking things day by day!!!

Hey Sweetie,

I did the same thing you're doing (for my first degree). It will be great sometimes, and other times, not so much. I can promise you that you will NEVER regret doing this. My advice is to finish school, no matter what. You will be in a much better position to take care of your family.

If you ever need to talk or vent, just pm me. Or post here. Everyone in this group is loving and supportive.

Good luck, and study hard. Warm regards, Susan

Starting nursing school can be quite daunting. Feeling sick on top of that can make a person feel overwhelmed. But just stick with it, keep going to class, taking notes, etc., until you feel better (soon I hope). Last Fall when I started nursing school, I was in the same situation as yourself. Three days before the first day of NS, I started getting VERY sick. The day before the first class I was diagnosed with pneumonia and the NP wanted me home in bed. I told her, "I've come too far and waited too long to get into nursing school, and the only way I'm not going to that class is if I'm dead!" Took me a month to fully recover, but the instructors and students were very understanding.

Now I'm just starting third semester and will graduate next May:).

Sacrifice and perseverence are key to attaining the goals you set (my opinion, of course).

If I can do it, you can too. Just keep truckin' along. Hope you feel better soon.

P.S. I also have small children, my boys are 6,6 and 4. You are not alone.
