Does nursing school break up relationships?

Published

I ask this question because I know that in my class several students have been cheated on by their husbands or boyfriends. Two ladies are filing for divorce. I would think that our partners would be supportive and be able to stay faithful. We as nursing students are trying to build a better future for ourselves. I guess they get tired of playing second fiddle to the studying, exams, and clinicals. Every cheating situation envolved the man doing the cheating. I am not saying that women don't cheat. It is so sad that our partners need so much attention from the opposite sex that they can't even see the big picture. We will eventually finish school and become awesome nurses.:heartbeat

I wouldnt stay nursing school broke up my relationship, but my stress from it and his concerns that I would leave him took a toll. He couldn't handle when things took a turn for the worse. I was upset for a long time but i am happy this happened it showed me he wasnt the guy for me. I am also continuing my education and I need someone that can be there to live through the storm.

nursing school doesn't break up relationships; bad relationships cause break-ups.

im almost done school next month and i have lost lifelong friends, and ive lost my boyfriend, it definitely takes a toll because we have no time to cater to there needs, no time to go out and no time for a social life i have not partied since the day i started school, this is gonna be a hell of a year for those of you just starting out, but the one thing i can say is that while i lost all of my friends i gained a whole class full of new ones, i love those guys we are each other strengths, and each others shoulder to cry on, when one of us are at the breaking point we are right there to cool down the situation, dont worry the closer u get to graduation the more you wont care about who is there and whos not all you will care about is graduating

I had a boyfriend I was dating for 2 years prior to starting the nursing program- Some people just cannot handle *You* putting yourself first. Needless to say I had to move to be closer to my school and clinicals- which put a distance on our relationship and New Years EVE I found out he was cheating on me. I think like so many others have said people are going to cheat whether you are in school or not =)

p.s. we seemed to have alot of broken relationships in my class too. Must be a general life thing =)

My husband has never had my undivided attention. I am very independent, he is dependent, but for nursing school he is totally understandable.

I don't know if I would say it breaks relationships up but it definetly puts a huge strain on a relationship. I wanted to change fields and didn't find much support so I moved out of state to a cheaper school and am in a nursing program. My relationship changed drastically as the person I was with did not want to relocate. I ended up dating someone else....my ex thinks/hopes after I graduate that I will move back....I'm happy in my current relationship though and family just says stay focused on finishing and then decide where and who I want to be with......I'm not that old but wish I was interested in this field and had done this a while ago without any attachments!

im bout to start nursing school out of state , im in a 4 year relationship any advise ?

Study study study and then study some more. Good luck and focus on getting through school. That would be my advice.
