Does anyone take supplements to stay healthy?

Published

I am worried about getting run down while I am in school and would like to now what, if any, supplements you take to stay healthy? I really don't want to miss any school and with all the nasty bugs going around I thought maybe someone might have some suggestions.

I like to take:

Fish-oil/omega-3 (food for the brain),

B-vitamin complexe (to keep your energy up, especially when you aren't eating right),

Calcium (in case i'm not drinking enough milk)

Vitamin C (to "boost" my immune system, and help with healing wounds since i have a mean cat)

I think the B complexe is the most important. I don't feel rundown when I take it regularly except when I'm deprieved of sleep.

Flinstones Children Vitamin daily po

( I cant swallow pills thats why )

Good question. I'm wondering the same thing! I start on Wednesday and I take just a daily multivitamin and echinacea for immune system. But I would like to hear what everybody is doing to stay healthy.

I've taken a variety of supplements in life. Mom used to feed me Flinstones vitamins when I was a little kid much like my dapple ganger above. Most recently, when I was on a big weight lifting kick before I had other things to do in life, I used to buy expensive tubs of Mega Men multi-vitamins and minerals from GNC. An hour later I'd have dark yellow pee, and I never felt any different so I quit buying them.

I'm really bad at remembering to take vitamins. I'm a picky eater so I know I don't get everything I need from food.

I take:

B-vitamins complex

Vitamin D

Green Tea

I'm interested in taking an Omega 3 pill, but am afraid of a fishy burp or aftertaste. If anyone takes one without it, please share :)

Yes, I take 2 baby aspirin, 1 probiotic, 1 co q 10, omega 3 in the morning. In the evening I take 1200 vitamin d, plus about 750 in calcium. When I am not feeling great I drink emergen-c. I also eat lots of fresh ginger and use lots of garlic in my cooking. I make a check list on a large sticky note to remind myself to take my supplements otherwise I seem to forget. I am a creature of habit and try to take things at the same time morning and night. I keep a spare dose in my bag just in case I rush out the door and forget.

I take a prenatal vitamin pill with DHA. I have been taking it ever since I had my kid.

There is a liquid fish oil by Baleans available in health food stores. It is thick and tastes like lemon meringue pie. For real, no aftertaste at all. :yeah:

I just started taking centrum a few days ago, I don't notice any real difference yet, but I plan on giving it a few weeks to test it out. I've never really taken vitamins before except when I was pregnant, so if centrum doesn't work, I will probably switch to a prenatal vitamin :)

Women's Multi-Vit

Flaxseed Oil

Zinc

Willow Bark (all natural aspirin, doesn't upset stomach)

At Night, before bed:

Melatonin

Valerian Root

a Liquid Multi-vit no iron ( liquid important because most compacted pills wont disolve fully)

an extra vitamin C

a ginko-biloba ( after about a week the effects for me become apparent espically helps with my RLS)

a ginseng (very good for physical stamina)

an Omega Krill oil (full effects no fishy after taste)

my wife and both kids have been very ill im fine so i guess something in there is working.
