  1. FY2019 our class size is 24; 19 direct commission, 5 prior service, 0 VA.
  2. Good luck to you all. It’s an amazing program. Hope to see some of you in the OR.
  3. I’m not aware of any reserve option. The full contract is 8 years, first three is school then 5 after you graduate. Didactic schedule is all consuming, especially the first two semesters, but doable just know studying is you job. Group PT once a week, but you will be doing more on your own. It’s an amazing program most of our class is direct commission, came in with no military experience. We’re about to graduate phase one and move on to clinicals. Haven’t lost a single student. Many are holding 4.0 GPAs. Good luck on you application. Start studying now for the GRE. Try to get your CCRN.
  4. For the phase two interview you will be given a chapter out of an anesthesia book to read before you go. Learn it inside and out. They will ask you general CCRN level questions but nothing crazy. The biggest tip I can give you is don’t open any doors your not prepared to walk through. IE don’t bring up a drug or procedure that you aren’t prepared to discuss in depth. What they are mostly looking for is not that you know everything it’s are you teachable and can you keep up with the grueling pace of the program. Do you have a support system? Are your prepared for the commitment? Dress professional and don’t be late. Ask questions. Good luck.
  5. So if your over your weight that doesn’t disqualify you because you then go to the tape test. It measures your waist and hip circumference compared to your height. Many people in our program have to get taped. I had to get tapes at MEPS and it was fine. What they are mostly screening out is major medical problems that will disqualify you from service seizures, heart conditions, things like that. Do NOT fail the drug screen. Most things you can get a waiver for. The current fitness test is pushups, sit-ups and 2 mile run but it’s changing and will be the new ACFT by the time you get in. It’s more events and no different grading scales for men/women or age. Good new is as a medical provider the standards are pretty low. 10-pushups, 1 hanging leg tuck, three reps deadlift 140lbs, over the head ball throw, sprint drag carry, and the 2-mile run.
  6. Current USAGPAN student. If you want to come into the ARMY as a nurse my advice would be get 1-2 years of critical care experience and your CCRN. They are in critical need of ICU nurses and with civilian experience you can come in as a first lieutenant and skip the medsurg rotation that most new grads have to go through before you can apply for the critical care or ER course.
  7. Current Phanse 1 FY 2019 student. 1. Yes but it will make your application process a lot smoother al long as you can pass tape. 2.Usually your interview is after your given a green light by MEPS. There is a large percentage of applicants that get disqualified by MEPS and since there is costa involved in getting you to and putting you up at phase 2 sites they want you to be cleared first. 3. The only fitness test you will have to pass before entering is the OPAT. It’s a joke. One you get commissioned you will go to DCC there you will take an evaluation PT test but it doesn’t count. Your first record pt test will be during BOLC. That you have to pass before you will be allowed to start the program. Spots are really competitive so try to get that GRE score up. I used Magoosh and it got me to 317 which I think helped my application a lot since my overall GPA was kinda low. Also get good letters of recommendation especially if you k ow an officer already in the ARMY Good Luck
  8. How has your experience been thus far? A whirlwind honestly. Trying to adapt to the Army lifestyle and CRNA school at the same time is challenging. Overall I am very happy with the support from the USAGPAN Leadership. You really feel like thy have your back and support you. At this point you would be in 2nd semester correct? There are not really semesters. We are continuously taking classes. We have finished the first pharm, biochem, A&P, and informatics. Are your classes solely GPAN students or are there other specialties mixed in? Only USAGPAN Students. We have our own classroom for just us. How much homework and how much class time do you average? Class time varies between 4-7 hours a day. Then most people are studying till late. I probably average 10-12 hours a day between class and studying. Do you wear uniforms on campus or dress as other students do? You are an officer and are expected to be in Uniform at al times. Including class. Are there civilians in your classes? No civilians all officers. Do you have to do daily reporting? M-F we report to class in the morning. On the weekends don’t. How about daily PT? PT is very important. We have scheduled PT once a week and a diagnostic PT test once a month. As an officer you are expected to maintain your physical fitness on your own. Do not neglect this. It is the easiest and dumbest way to get removed from the program. How often are y'all meeting for (Military) administration duties? Not really ever. You are here to learn anesthesia. They try to remove anything that would interfere with that. Once a month you might have to come in earlier for a drug screen. There is no sugar coating it. Its very hard to be accepted, its harder to make it through, it’s incredibly worth it.
  9. sorry no instagram

  11. Current Phase 1 student in FY2019. If anyone has any questions about the program let me know. Good luck to yall.
  12. I started a facebook group for the class called USAGPAN FY2019 to give us a private place to communicate and get to know each other. Please join.
  13. Check your Baylor accounts. I'm accepted. Looking forward to meeting you all in the spring or summer.
  14. Longest Weekend ever......
  15. Ahhh I thought nursing was an Acronym world but the military has it beat. I hope DCC and BOLC clear a lot of the military aspect up. Anesthesia school is gonna be tough but getting used to all the military policies and procedures is gonna take it to another level.
