Do you wear your engagement rings at work?

i am engaged but he hasn't bought a ring yet because i have been pondering this question. i am actually a nursing student still but plan to work in a hospital setting after graduation. so my question to you, the experienced nurses, is do you wear a solitaire style or large center diamond ring to work? or just your wedding band? anyone who does wear their ring, does it cause issues with gloves and stuff? i know this may sound like a silly question but we (my fi and i) were thinking that if it would get in the way he might get me a diamond band for an engagement ring that doesn't stick out like a solitaire would if other people who have worked in nursing jobs had issues with their rings.

Congratulations!

I wore my engagement ring- new nurse, new ring.... I was quite proud :)

After I cracked the band a second time, I stopped wearing it at work. Now all I wear is my wedding band.

My hubby has mentioned buying a new 'better' ring a couple of times but I'm too sentimental. :)

I wear my wedding band only (flat sterling silver claddagh ring), exactly like http://www.justmensrings.com/images/products/med/medium_mr12.jpg. No catching, easily cleaned. A few co-workers wear high-set diamond rings and I always wonder how they manage gloves

And as far as bringing home c.diff mrsa, and of those " has anyone heard of a new thing called GLOVES". I don't even touch a pt. without them and as far as mrsa, c.diff we have to gown up even to go into their rooms.

I'm sure I've heard of gloves, but certainly you don't believe that germs are really isolated to a patient's body, right? How many times to we see patients who are placed on isolation DAYS after having been in the hospital, after everyone and their mother has carried cruddy germs in and out and everywhere else in the facility?

No, I use gloves. I wash well. And I leave the diamond fingerwear that can transport illness to my family at HOME.

I go by the maxim we were told repeatedly in nursing school -- never wear anything to work that you wouldn't want (couldn't stand) to have ruined/destroyed.

I don't go to work to impress others with my fashion sense, "bling," or marital status. I go there to work.

Well I"m gonna wear my ring, and my mother a nurse wears hers too. As well as alot of other nurses I know

I wear just my wedding band. I remember giving a lol a skin tear when I was in school with my engagement ring and I have never forgiven myself. I actually forget to put it back on and it just sits in my jewelery box to my husbands dismay.

I wear my wedding band and a diamond ring where the diamonds are surrounded by the band. Its not flat and I do wash it (scrub it actually) out each night. I do have lots of pt contact and many of my pts are hep B and HIV + but in 20 years (18 as a nurse and 2 yrs as a student), I've never had any problems.

I wear my smallish diamond ring without any problems.

Where I work, nurses are a bit compulsive about "gloving", that rarely do hands touch patients. The ring gets covered up a lot during patient care.

That's what I always said, too. It wasn't against policy where dh and I both worked. It wasn't a "bling thing", or showing it off, I just wanted to wear it.

17 years ago (!)when we were looking for my engagement ring my soon to be hubby suggested i not have a ring with prongs (had 2 friends in nursing lose their diamonds)

i have a bezel set round solitaire diamond-no separate wedding band-very neat looking and no prongs, also didn't cause skin tears to my elderly patients-still looks timely-people ask me if i just got a new ring!

to your original question-yes, wear my wedding ring everyday.
