Do you think this site would profit from a chat room?

I think it would be great if this site had a chat room. Most of these posts are really interesting and I bet would make for great discussion.

I agree 100% It would be chaos!! Remember, we already have private messaging for those who feel the need.

And remember this isn't even really "private"....I'm just saying....

AllNurses used to have a chatroom, no one ever went in there. No troubles that I know of, just no participation.

I miss chatting in the chat room so much. :crying2: I always went there if I had questions or just wanted to talk about nursing. When I went to chat room there were people in the room especially at night but slow during the day. I had problem with getting into chat room because the link was hard to find and I think many people had the same problem. I think the chat coversations were always recorded and if somebody is abusing it we could just copy and paste it and send it to the moderator. I sent email to administrator long time ago if we can have chat room back but he said no. :[anb]::lvan::nmbrn:

That's a pity...

Twice upon a time ago there was a chat room. Both times it was shut down, mainly because of user abuse. If you notice that in many posts, especially those that could be considered controversial, people here get very heated and sometimes downright rude. It would be much more difficult to control in a chat room. Then there is the off topic issue.

i too, remember when there was a chatroom.

believe me, if brian thought it would be beneficial for the members and site, he would do it.

since it was taken down, you have to believe there was darned good reason.:)

I think it is a good idea. I would particpate.

If the owners don't want a chatroom that's of course within their rights....but the "Brian know's best" attitude is a bit patronizing.

Allnurses decided it wasn't in their best interest to have a chatroom, so they don't anymore. Doesn't require "belief" that anyone is looking for what is beneficial to me.

sorry, i disagree.

he's the owner/founder, and he also sees the obstacles and/or benefits, that we don't.

we just don't know what happens behind the scenes, so if the chatroom is no longer, i personally believe there is good reason for it.

Actually, I seem to remember the UK nurses had a "Chat Meeting" once a week. I never participated but the feedback I've read in the posts seem to indicate that they did really enjoy their virtual meeting.
